how to make your shitty job not suck so bad:
add beer.
totally, serious. that's all it takes.
it does not take some kind of rocket scientist to figure out that i generally do not like working at Za's. granted, it is mindless, menial, busywork that entails putting a pasta together, or pizza assembly, or something of similar difficulty, but that doesn't mean i like it. there is no challenge at this job, only stress, when there is a line out the door, composed of people who don't know how to fill out a scan-tron, who all want pasta, and we're understaffed, and the oven is getting backed out because no one is dealing with all the trays of garlic bread....but i digress... this job is moreso an exercise in dealing with idiocy. sure, it's nice in that i don't have to go buy groceries. and i work with a lot of AWESOME people. and tons of people i know, that i don't get to see very often come in a lot. so that's cool, but it doesn't make me like working in a kitchen.
...except when there is beer.
tonight, after 7:30, za's was DEAD. there were tumbleweeds rolling through that place, and we were all bored and crabby, since we'd just sold $600 worth of pasta in an hour, and therefore needed to re-stock and clean and wash about a hundred dishes, so our fearless leader, phil, went out and bought a case of miller light and put it in the fridge. and goddammit, we drank that fucking case. and we were the happiest we've EVER been at work.
we made those goddamn sandwiches with big drunk smiles on our faces.
and it was fucking awesome.
and i recommend it to everyone.

a friend of mine sent me this link, to FREEEEEEEEE super-pretty jewelery. all you pay is shipping and handling, and it's SO GODDAMN CUTE. the only hitch is that the selection changes every 15 minutes, so if you want something, be impulsive and get the damn thing, expecially since it'll only be 5 or 6 dollars.
the link is
HERE.
AND!
my very favorite best friend since we were SIX (it's been FIFTEEN YEARS, folks), ANDREA-PANTS is coming in on saturday to get DRUNK and peruse our very fine selection of state-school pretty boys. :)
