another beautiful morning here, cool and still. except for the dog walkers in the park and some chick talking on her cell phone.
otherwise, preeetty quiet.
went to a concert last night with eileen & doug @ the sandia pueblo casino. it's starting to hit me how different things are and how things are going to be here. it's a great outdoor venue, and the casino & hotel are beautiful, at least from the outside. immaculate grounds and stunning views of the mountains & mesa. there was this insane sunset:

we saw susan tedeschi & derek trucks, a husband & wife team with a full band behind them. he's an amazing guitarist ( clearly heard a couple gilmour influences in one of his solos) and she reminds me a little of bonnie raitt. they were really good, not something i'm necessarily going to add to my ipod, but good. at one point, it started to sprinkle and then rain and then full on sideways rain with wind for about... 5 minutes? gradually subsiding and providing one and all an unexpected refresh. we were all pretty soaked, but totally dry within an hour or so. hi, desert. the show was interesting, they went into a full on sly & the family stone thing in the middle of their set, which left me a bit *tiltyhead* um, quoi? aren't you guys a little bit country? but, with two dummers, four guitarists, a horn section, a guy on keyboards... and two back up singers. i feel like i'm forgetting someone. %p but a great time and a beautiful night altogether. we came home and doug made us his sekrit speshul sandwich, the grilled cheese with bacon & peanut butter. don't knock it til you've tried it, my friends!
yesterday, i forced myself out of the guest house and onto the street, walking to a shopping area near here called nob hill. one of my former buyers has a store there, so i popped in to see if she was around, which she was. when i told her i'd just upped & moved here, her jaw kind of dropped a little. i've been noticing that lately. %p people are like... you did what? o_0
yep! that was me! i did it! is that bad?
anyway, once she recovered, we had a nice chat and i'm going to be forwarding her my resume (her: you're way too qualified for anything around here!" been getting that alot too. *sigh*), cuz SHE KNOWS PEOPLE. and she even looked at me at one point and mentioned developing some "projects", whatever that means. i'm all sure! bring it! i have nothing but time.
have my first interview monday. with AFLAC, no less. didn't we try this in chicago? yes, yes we did. i walked into that cattle call and was like, nope. i am nowhere near that proud right now. %p oh, and who is surprised that i was somehow shorted over $2000 in commission this pay period? thanks again for keeping it real, work! every time i have a flicker of doubt about leaving that hellish place, i'll just think of that.
still no word about when my stuff is arriving. have to start paying for storage as of monday. seriously people, moving companies really do just suck.i don't even want to think about it.
we're having a quasi-surprise birthday party for doug tomorrow, which should be way fun. i have a feeling today's going to be all about cooking & baking and stuff. eileen's making a cake. w00t! frosting! w00t! i don't think we have any plans tonight, or at least i hope we don't. i woke up way too early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep for very long. *YAWN* maybe they'll go out for a nice romantic birthday dinner, just the two of them. no clue. i do know that, unless it involves large amounts of green chile, i'm most likely in tonight.
and that is all i have to say about that.
