I didn't actually expect to like this show and yet the very first episode made me love it. Not only is it a take on the Sleepy Hollow story but has an early Supernatural quality to it that is wonderful. My favorite aspect of the show is that essentially Ichabod Crane is thrust from the late 1700s to 2013 where he has to help deal with the Headless Horseman, but because of the time difference he doesn't understand anything around him. So it has the feel of a time traveler (though he's technically not) having to figure out what cars, phones, and Starbucks is. Not to mention all the differences of everyday life from late 1700s to 2013 which includes slavery being abolished, woman working, and woman wearing trousers. It really makes for some humorous situations that could ultimately last forever as he really needs to learn everything about our world.
The overall arch seems to be that Ichabod and the Headless Horseman are connected and there is more of an arch that you'll have to watch the episode to see. Point is I actually like the overall arch and the set up of each episode as it stands. I'm surprised. I went into this episode thinking I'd dislike the show.
