How to put your pre-owned eBooks on your Kindle Fire

Dilemma: Maybe you are like me and have had eBook for a long while before actually having that coveted eReader. You've picked up you favorite books for very cheap or they were freebies from authors. But they are PDFs and EPUB (or other formats) and you can't read them off your Kindle.

Here is the thing. You can read them and in Kindle Format too.

Things You'll Need:
Calibre, Box App, File Expert App

Total Cost: $0

1. Download: Go to http://calibre-ebook.com/ and download their eBook Management Program. On your Kindle go into the Apps and Look for File Expert and Box.net App. Both should be free. Go to Box.net and open a free account.

2. Format: Once you've installed Calibre and have it running (it should have prompted you as to where to store your Library - My Documents>etc),  add all your pdf or epub books into the system and then convert them into MOBI format. These will save themselves to a folder on your computer under the authors name and then by book (in case you need to search them out).

3. Upload all the MOBI formated versions to your Box.net account.

4. Download: Go to your Box App on your Fire and login. Once in your account Download all the MOBI books you've uploaded. Then close the app.

5. Move: Go to File Expert App. Click My Files then SD Card then Box. You will either find a tmp folder or a folder labeled as your Box.net account email address. Click on this folder. It is possible if you've created folders on your Box account that these will appear. Go into whichever folder has your MOBI files or simply check mark the files you want.

At the bottom of the screen select cut. Then hit the back button. You should see your list of folders which should have both Books and Box among them. Click on Books.

In the Book folder, paste what you cut by clicking the paste button at the bottom.

Now, click on a MOBI file. A menu will prompt you called Open As... choose More...

The Complete Action Using window will appear. Choose Amazon Kindle.

It will go back to your list of MOBI files. You can repeat opening these or go back to HOME by clicking the Home button at the bottom.

6. See if it worked: Click on Books. Your MOBI file should be listed under the books section, though if it is not go back to Home and check the Docs section (as I've had a few of my books go there instead of the Books Section). Now you can read you books like you would a Kindle book.

More: It is possible if you have a cable cord for the Fire you can send your books to your Kindle using a program or the Calibre system. As I do not have a cable, I found this method to be rather easy, though the conversion and the editing of titles and authors in Calibre can be time consuming.

Feel free to share this with anyone you know as I was hard pressed to find this solution on the net.
