WikipediaTHOR! I went and saw THOR.
I'm never attracted to bearded men let alone blonde men... I don't know why but they've just never been that wonderful for me. There are some bearded exceptions (Jason Momoa and Steve Bacic) but it is rare. Then in strolls Chris Hemsworth in that Thor get up and my hormones danced around like there was no tomorrow. Damn.
It is just wrong how yummy that boy is.
Moving on though... I wasn't sure I'd love this movie but I was intrigued that Natalie Portman was in the movie as is Anthony Hopkins. These actors seem more big time so it was baffling to think of them in a superhero movie. Had to see it.
I was very surprised. First, I knew more about Norse mythology than I thought I did. And Second, the movie was surprisingly good and simple. They didn't over-complicate everything to get the story across.
You almost assume that Thor will be completely cheesy and it was, mildly. It is hard not to be when the enemy in your life are 10 (maybe a lot more) feet tall ice men. Of course, the CGI creation of these Frost Giants is fascinating to see. The effects in the movie where smoothly done to make thing look more real despite their unreality.
I think Chris Hemsworth did a great job, could be biased though. Chris and Natalie had a wonderful chemistry that made me want to giggle during its finer moments.
Kenneth Branaugh did a fantastic job directing. For me, there is just the right amount of action and story to keep you interested and without bringing so much information your yawning.
Stellan Skarsgard did a great job as Erik Selvig. I'm not a huge fan of Stellan but I enjoyed him in the movie.
Also a big FYI if you go to see this film. You much stay until the credits role because the movie comes back to connect it to S.H.I.E.L.D. for the upcoming Avengers movie.... just like Iron Man 2.
I got to see the trailer for Captain America which I'm totally seeing. It looks wonderful. Reminds me a little of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade only as a superhero. Here is the trailer:
