From
thefridayfive I missed a couple weeks so here is make up time:
1. Are you and your birth family close?
Yes. Sometimes this is an issue because they can be a bunch of crazy people. My father no so much. He decided abandonment was in his children's best interest so kind of puts a crimp in a relationship. Then my older sister who is clinically crazy which we don't have a relationship with because of the amount of times she's threatened to murder us.
2. How far away do you live from your various family members?
My mom about 4 miles (5 minutes). My brother a mile and my younger sister and I share a house.
3. When was the last time you visited with relatives?
Visit is a weird word here because I have a lot of family. I have 2 aunts and an uncle that live close by. I have at least a dozen cousins that live close by and all of them are also friends. Well almost all of them. So we see each other constantly. Their children call me "auntie" because cousin isn't a title. And we sit and talk all the time. In fact, we just had a big yard sale that my cousin-in-law was helping with. So I consider most of my cousins/cousins-in-law to be friends and family so there is no visiting for them.
The cousins that live further away just came up a couple weeks ago for my youngest first cousins wedding. But usually our "visits" are big family gatherings.
4. Do your relatives travel to visit you?
Some of them. We have some cousins down in southern California, Nashville, and Georgia (we are in Northern California). I really want to visit my cousin in Nashville but haven't had the opportunity yet.
5. How do you stay in touch with family: phone calls, email, snail mail, texts, other?
For the family members farther away it is Facebook, Instagram and text. The ones close by it is the same but also seeing each other constantly.
