Let's watch TV

May 19, 2020 11:27

I wasn't watching a lot of TV because I've been extremely busy but just recently there has been some time here and there to binge some stuff. And if you are having trouble keeping track of things you are watching or want to make a quick comment on an episode you should try the TV Time app. It is so great that it can keep track of your shows so you know what you are watching and where plus it will alert you to when shows are returning (if you've marked them as your shows). You can keep track of where you are in a show and you can rate episodes, comment on episodes and chat quickly with people. It's pretty great.

Virgin River: I kept seeing this come up on Netflix but had no concept of what it was and the description wasn't great. I knew Alexandra Breckenridge was in it and I really liked her on This Is Us (Sophie). Then listening to my Outlander podcast the hubby was teasing his wife for loving this show. It may have been their This Is Us podcast now that I think about it. Makes sense. Anyways, I watched the first episode which had this Hallmark feel but a little more serious and there was just something about it even though the first episode doesn't scream "keep watching".

I think it is the chemistry between Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson. Plus Martin. I like him but have never been someone who had to watch something because he was on it. I did like him on Grey's Anatomy and a show he did years ago that got cancelled. So I watched.

You guys I've watched this 10 episodes twice and I'm totally in love with it. Shh.. I'm watching it a third time. I even listened to the book that goes with it and some of the rest of the book series. Thankfully it will be getting a season two this year sometime and I can't wait. The chemistry between Mel and Jack (Alexandra and Martin) is crazy and then there is Preacher and Paige. Paige is played by Lexa Doig who I so love. If you at all like romantic movies you have to watch this show.

okay okay I'll move on...

Homeland: I can't say I'm in love with this show. I heard so many great things and Claire Danes was getting all the awards for it or at least nominations. So I started watching and I have to say I'm disappointed. Carrie (Claire Danes) is an emotional mess which happens with mental illness but she's a DHS agent and she is seriously nuts at times. She crosses the boundaries of what is appropriate all the time and she whines and cries so much that I can't even see the badass agent in her. I kind of stopped watching as soon as I saw whether or not they figured out who was the turncoat.

Alias: Thank goodness Amazon Prime put up Alias which I watched when it originally aired back in 2001. Honestly, it is a far better spy show than Homeland. First, the phones are totally outdated most of the premise and what is happening isn't. Second, Jennifer Gardner is a far better spy vulnerability and all. I have been wanting to watch this show again because I remembered loving it so much. Bradley Cooper is so freaking young! Jennifer pretty much looks the same. I'm loving it. I vaguely remember some of the twists and turns and so look forward to experiencing them again.

Raising Dion: Okay I'm a Jason Ritter fan. I find him hilarious and such a good actor. I loved him in Parenthood and Keven Probably Saves the World but his parts are usually short lived. So to see on Netflix that he was in this show, I was excited. But that was were the excitement only started. This show! It is so cute and yet exciting. Here is the description:

A single mother must hide her young son's superpowers to protect him from exploitation while investigating their origins and her husband's death.

It was so good. Alisha Wainwright is so beautiful and as Dion's mother she is fantastic. Michael B. Jordan is the father and he is so good. Ja' Siah Young kind of steals things as Dion but Sammy Haines kills it as Esperanza. It is so worth the time and at 9 episodes it was a SUPER (pun intended) easy binge. Plus, it is something you can more than likely let your kids watch unless they scare really easily (see picture) because all the episodes are G and there are some conversations between mom and son that are ones kids should learn.

In the Dark: I watched this after the first season aired. I wasn't curious about it but I was so bored with TV last summer that I gave it a go. It was so good. At first, it was hard to get around Murphy's annoying habits but you realizes she's is hiding insecurities because of her blindness and her dogged need to solve her friends murder just brings you twist after twist. So good. Thankfully the show has returned so I'm watching the second season as it airs.

The Drew Crew

Nancy Drew: I know. I wasn't going to watch. But I thought, why not? So I watched the first episode which wasn't the best but the ending of the episode was pretty great. And I had no idea it was going to be Nancy Drew meets Supernatural so I kept watching and I watched the season so fast it should be illegal. I really loved it and can't wait for next season. I figured out the surprise early on but I kept second guessing myself and I wasn't sure how they'd get from point A to point B. But it was so good. Quick tip the Drew Crew isn't learning... seances aren't a good thing.

Roswell New Mexico: In case you don't know what is where the supposed alien crash of 1947 happened. I know this more because I'm a nerd and because I watched the original show Roswell. No, I don't believe in aliens but I love scifi so I thought this is small town meets aliens. It can't be as good as the first season of the original. Boy was I wrong. Nathan Parsons is in this one (The Originals) and I rather like him so I watched and realized I love a lot of this cast. Nathan is so great as Max but Jeanine Mason as Liz. I adore her. I'm not a huge Michael fan this time around but I love Heather Hemmens as Maria and I didn't think this Maria could make me love her like Majandra Delfino's Maria did (OG). There is another Vampire Diaries/The Original alum on here too... Michael Trevino as Kyle. It is a really great show and worth the watch.
