1 pound ground turkey
1 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
4 cups green cabbage, shredded
1 cup carrot, shredded
1 cup red cabbage, shredded
Or a bag of coleslaw from the store which approximates the same amount
1/2 cup yellow onion, sliced thin
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro (optional)
Make It:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the turkey and cook, stirring often to crumble, until cooked through.
- Add the sesame oil followed by the cabbage, carrot, red cabbage, (or coleslaw mix) onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, salt and pepper to the skillet with the sausage. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until cabbage has softened a bit but is still a little crunchy.
- Remove from the heat and top with the green onions and fresh cilantro.
Not only is this a delicious dish but it is sugar free, gluten free and grain free. It is one of the dishes we discovered when doing our Candida cleanse. I highly recommend it. And when we aren't on a cleanse sometimes we pair it with some potstickers.
We also started adding some extra veggies. Some thinly sliced bell peppers or even zucchini noodles (store bought not made). I tried some boc choy in it but that didn't excite me even though I tend to like it.
And if you like spicy you can try the spicy sesame oil. We have spicy and plain so I do 1 tablespoon regular and 1/2 spicy. It is very good.
