New Job Day 1

May 18, 2007 13:58

If I could sum up how much I enjoy my work, it would be thus; I would rather shovel elephant dung while playing the kazoo. I mean really most places are not all that bad. But for three reasons I do not like this place. 1) I have to wear a tie, yes I know it's standard in most businesses today, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. 2)They made me cut my hair, I mean really it's barely past shoulder length and I feel that I can look professional and have long(ish) hair. Evidently the Sheriton company thinks otherwise, and since I am so poor I can't even do laundry right now I had to cut it myself. Yea fucking thrilled about that one. 3) I can't have facial hair, ok for those who know me if there is one thing I dislike about my appearance, is that when I am shaved I look funny, or to say I am funny looking would be a better description. I mean its one thing to ask for no long hair, I can understand that some people still belive that long haired people are druggies hippies and other wise dangerous crazy people (although some days that last part can describe me today it does not apply.) But I mean I keep the goatee trim and washed not wild and unkempt like some Norse who's forgotten his lunch in it.

So I get into work at 5:30 am my trainer isn't in until 6am and even she doesn't know she's training me. I quickly find out that not only are they understaffed but even the management dosen't think well of the actual staff. But as I listened to the complianing of my new coworkers, about how the hotel was going to hire on more professional staffing, this was done of course with in ear shot of customers. >.<

So over all not really thrilled about the whole idea of working there, it's not enough hours, rent is due in two weeks and I have no back up savings. So now I have to find anouther job, a high hour, high pay job. It's going to suck brass balls but I have to or I go back to my parents, neither is fun but it's looking like what I have to deal with now.
