pokémon gameverse thoughts!

Thanks to a recent post in pokemon, I've discovered this artist and their ADORABLE AWESOME arts of the Pokémon gameverse kids and dflkgjsgfdfgkl. I CAN'T PROPERLY EXPLAIN HOW HAPPY IT MAKES ME.
exhibit a: red/gold/brendan/lucas!
exhibit b: leaf/kris/may/dawn!
exhibit c: green/silver/wally/barry!
exhibit d: the professors!
Look at them, being all bffy and Brendan is PLOTTING SOMETHING and Dawn is pissing off Kris and everyone is chillin' in Wally's room while he's bedridden and the Profs are just there being generally badass. ;__; I want a Pokémon gameverse RP so badly right now. It could be so sparkly and have them living together in houses and being spazzy and dorky or sexy and tsuntsun but otherwise living fabulously normal teenage lives (with Pokémon!). The GLs and E4 and champs could come too! And the other NPCs!
But idk. ;; It seems like a lot of people prefer PokéSpecial for their gameverse-expansion needs, but for something different, I'd love something that everyone kind of collaboratively headcanon'd on in a way that worked more closely with the games.
Like, say... if Red was Champion first, Leaf kind of just chilled and then took on the E4 at her own pace, won, but had zero interest in sitting around, so she travels a lot, and that's why she doesn't show up in HGSS. Kris might have taken a similar approach, except I see her as someone really ambitious and independent, so maybe she travels a lot because she is REALLY DETERMINED to 'dex every Pokémon in existence. (She went FUCK YOU to the game creators who wanted to make her wear pink in HGSS so she grabbed her bag and stormed off to like, China, where she and Leaf met up and travelled together for a bit before going their separate ways again. Lyra was subsequently hired!)
Okay, meanwhile, Hoenn kids' journey takes place the same time as Kanto kids! So uh... let's see, if May is Norman's daughter to parallel the anime, that makes her the champion of Hoenn/SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, and it makes Brendan the son of Professor Birch. The pseudo-rival of RSE, I've noticed, seems to be really informed and gives you useful things like the goggles for the sandstorm area, and I don't know about anyone else, but I can see Brendan being a mini-researcher like his dad really easily! HE'D BE SO CUTE IN HIS LITTLE LAB COAT. So he's derping around planting berries and making Pokéblock and studying interesting Pokémon and exploring the general awesome of the region (because Hoenn is SO AWESOME) but then when it comes to the Team Aqua/Magma showdown, he's maybe helping behind the scenes. I... goddamn I could've sworn I read someone else's ideas for this that made perfect sense to me but I can't recall it at the moment.
ANYWAY so three years pass and it's GSC/HGSS and DPPt time! Red, Leaf, Green, May, and Brendan are about 13 years old and Wally is probably 12, if he's only 9 in RSE*. Kris sets out with... well, any three or maybe ALL THREE of the Johto starters and does her thing being awesome and dex-hunting. Gold is... just the Gen II PC in my head so he marches onwards to the league. Lyra is generally adorable and has ambitions to breed and investigate history/myths (bffs with Cynthia?) and Pokémon sociology; I'm getting this from the fact that when you call her, she often gives you tips on how a Pokémon might act in a certain place or situation. (Also, I think Pokémon psychologist/sociologist/historian is perfect for her somehow, and I totally think she would triple-major. WHY NOT.) Silver is... Silver. Yeah.
* HERE IS MY LOGIC: Wally seems to be younger than the PC, but not as young as a School Kid. Max from the anime is based on the School Kid class, and he's canonically 7. So it makes sense to me that Wally would be around 9 years old.
So then there's Dawn, Lucas, and Barry to deal with, oh boy. Let's see... I think I like Lucas better as the champion of Sinnoh here, leaving Dawn to be the ever-knowledgeable assistant of Professor Rowan and possibly the only and best Pokémon Coordinator of the group here. (It's her skirt, okay. She oozes girly and was pretty much made for contests imo.) Plus, Lucas and Barry's dynamics as rivals and childhood friends makes me giddy with glee, because it's like Red/Green but is so not Red/Green and god, idek when I started shipping it so hard but I totally do.
So uh, my fangirling aside, I've decided that post-series, they all somehow end up meeting. THIS IS ACTUALLY EASIER THAN YOU'D THINK. For starters, Gold in HGSS has met both Cynthia and Steven, so it seems inevitable that sooner or later he'd meet Champion May and Champion Lucas, and they can all work together to drag Red off that goddamn mountain and have a fabulous champion party. Barry and Wally can bond over having awesome family members in the Battle Frontier and Sinnoh League respectively. (AARON IS WALLY'S OLDER BROTHER I CAN'T UNSEE IT. Their hair is way similar, and Aaron has both Dustox and Beautifly, implying he's been to Hoenn!) Brendan and Dawn can bond over Poffins vs. Pokéblock and the intricacies of berry-growing and I bet Birch and Rowan would totally ship it or something. Meanwhile, Kris and Leaf are harassing Green and Silver hardcore after returning from their journeys just because they can, and Lyra has somehow become co-owner of the Safari Zone along with Gold, because Gold really has NO IDEA why the heck he became owner in the first place, but she mainly takes care of it and has built her own house on the beautiful cliffy route between the Safari and Cianwood.
tl;dr WAY OVERACHIEVING CHILDREN OH MY GOD SERIOUSLY
right so I definitely started flying away from the original point but there's my personal headcanon for gameverse, eliminating the general mass confusion of actual series canon and who did what here. In this potential RP, it'd be something solid like that--May-mun would have to talk it over with Brendan-mun and decide on roles, for example, and obviously my headcanon wouldn't be gospel even if I started the game because there's bound to be a lot of differing opinions on that. It could take place about... nine years from the start of RBY? Red, Leaf, Green, May, and Brendan are deliciously around the age of 19, Wally is 18, and Gold, Kris, Lyra, Silver, Dawn, Lucas, and Barry are all about 16. They are obviously all RIDICULOUS AWESOME at this point, and there's a ton of different plotlines the RP could follow:
- SUMMER CAMP FOR ALL REALLY KICKASS SUPER COOL PEOPLE INCLUDING GYM LEADERS ETC.
- Pokécollege so they can stop beating up small children for their money and instead think about their futures!!
- RUNNING THEIR OWN GODDAMN LEAGUE WHERE YOU HAVE TO BEAT EVERYONE TO GET TO RED. Who has a hacked L255 Pikachu with Ice Beam learned from intensive training on Mt Silver. Yeah, you and your supposedly safe Ground-types are fucked.
- POKÉMON?! WHAT POKÉMON?! WE HAVE TENNIS!
- AND HOGWARTS
- AND THE DIGITAL WORLD
- But also something cute and mundane like they're all helping the professors with a super secret special mission that involves partnering up and teamwork and tons of communication.
- Or they go travelling to the Europe equivalent of the Pokéworld!
- Or they go BACK IN TIME. SERIOUSLY BACK IN TIME TO THE POKÉDINOSAURS.
- OR INTO THE FUTUUUUURE
- YOUNGSTER JOEY AND HIS MUTATED MOTHERFUCKING RATICATE HAVE TAKEN OVER THE ENTIRE GODDAMN UNIVERSE
- ???
.... I am totally not saying that I am going to make this but talking about it has only made me want to more. But how am I going to find at least 8-12 or ideally 24-44 players to account for all of the main characters and the gym leaders who would also need to be interested in communicating and cooperating a lot over what's basically half-OCs in predefined roles and are also happy with whatever plot we end up going with and brb sobbing forever
