Just been to the University of Kent, which is really really good. It has definately re-awakened my keeness for university. I've been to the UEA a few times, most recently a year and a half ago and thought that was pretty good, then we went to the naffness that was Essex university for the UCAS week and i was thinking oh dear if its anything like this i might want to think again about uni... then went to Loughborough recently on a proper open day, and although it was a nice university it was obviously tairlored towards sport (and although it did have some great sport facilities) it was a bit average in accomodation and location.
So today it was the turn of Kent, which i was hoping would be good as its in Canterbury which is a really nice city i've been to many times, right near one of the train stations so is 1hr 1/2 to London (a journey i've had to do all too often so isn't exactly daunting), and is only 25mins away from my mothers (extra food + washing :P) and only 2hrs way from good ol marltesham by car. The first accomodation we looked at was a bit prison like (unsurprising as it was actually designed by the same person who designed a prison of which i forget the name :P) however all the en-suite accomodation that we saw (self-catering or not) was really nice. The campus is great, as i mentioned it is really close to the city and elsewhere and has a pretty awesome view lol; as its on a hill overlooking the city. Then there was the school of architecture, which was brand new and awesome, with a cool head of school too. All in all pretty great and will take some beating considering the facilities, location and everything else.
Just Plymouth (which also has a new school of architecture but is very far away) and Portsmouth to check out now :) Anyway, all in all today left me feeling pretty optimistic about the future :P Hope uni visiting etc is going well for everybody and that those who aren't going manage to find something they wish to do or some career thay may want to follow.
