Can't Sleep

Second busy day of classes complete, and my heart feels heavy. Tonight we talked about dealing with death and dying and how to comfort families of our patients. We talked about DNR's and other legal issues that EMTs must be aware of. A few stories were told (while not disclosing private info) about carelessness and patient neglect in the worst case scenario.
Upon coming home, I decided to begin my reading for my sociology class. The first reading is a long article entitled Teenage "Wasteland: Suburbia" that talks about teenage suicied and how this is now a part of society due to drugs and the eminent arrival of absolute uselessness as individuals.
I compounded this negative light by listening to John Lennon, who was assassinated, sing about his freed mind floating across the universe. I finally got sick of it and decide to chat on-line, but first I had to check myspace. A bulletin posted by a friend was a poem describing a three-year-old child being beaten to death by his drunk father. Shortly after reading this, I stumbled upon a song by nickleback put to an endless line of video from 9/11/01. Clip after clip was shown of people falling from the towers.
I rarely feel sadness, but tonight I do, and I prefer anger. I can't sleep and it is now tomorrow.
