Risk and Reward

I spent the weekend out-of-town with Lexi, to attend the wedding of some good friends. It was an experience that was most excellent.

Interestingly, the wedding guests were part Leather and part vanilla. The families were most of the vanilla group. We had to learn some new names for some familiar faces, and that's always fun.

I got to meet the groom's mother early in the day, just before the ceremony, and I knew instantly that this person has got spark. The smiles she drew from me were genuine, each time our paths crossed throughout the day and into the night, as I observed her interacting with family and friends and new faces.

Later into the evening, as many of us had been drinking by then for quite a few hours, I had the opportunity to light up one of the excellent cigars that were offered to the guests who wanted them. I had Lexi dress the the groom's cigar and another cigar for a friend. That was delightful for me to watch. Now I'm standing there, dressed in a black suit, white shirt and a tie and I'm smoking my cigar while Lexi is talking to the groom's mom. I produce my leather dress gloves from my pocket and begin to put them on. Now, looking like a dapper hitman, I'm watching Lexi attempt to stay focused on her conversation with groom's mom. The topic of their discussion happened to be about the importance of learning good manners!

This move was a calculated risk because, aside from a few necklaces that looked like substantial metal, there was no overt lifestyle wardrobe. Well, the bridal gown was laced up in back in a lovely corset-style closure but, c'mon, she's the bride!

A little while later, a bunch of us are sitting around on the front porch, smoking, drinking, talking, and groom's mom is sitting next to me, holding her drink and smoking her cigarette and she's looking at my gloves when suddenly she says, "Those look hot". Now, the weather had been neither too cool, nor too warm, and so I offered that my smoking gloves were very thin and thus, quite comfortable to wear. To which she responded, "No. I mean, those look hot."

DUH!

Ya. Slow down on that tequila there, boy.  LOL!
