"We continue to proudly and precociously declare that if you're going to spend money on music every once in a while, you should spend that money on albums made by small independent labels who are determined to remain that way, who are guided by some ethical and political principles when it comes to production and distribution, and whose economics are founded on the idea that even a couple thousand record sales can generate a small surplus for the artist. In other words, labels like us, who have no choice but to sit out of most of the promo/media/publicity games that increasingly drive the music industry - a choice made easier by the infuriating transparency and shamelessness of these games, which as always conspire against substantial, critical engagement with recordings and their origins, and reinforce the laziness, apathy and dismissive sense of privilege that afflict so many bands, music publications and journalists. Of course, we're not talking about YOU. It's those other folks who piss us off.
Our 2006 releases are all awesome, needless to say. The diversity and originality of this year's catalogue - Glissandro 70, Feu Therese, Black Ox Orkestar, Carla Bozulich, Sandro Perri, Eric Chenaux, Lullabye Arkestra - is pretty damn special, we think. We're planning to make a podcast compilation of tracks from all these releases in time for the fall, but meanwhile we're pretty confident you can find "illegal" rips of all these records online, so check those out and if you like what you hear, consider putting a few dollars in the pockets of the bands by following through and buying some of them. Selling records is all we've got."

So if you're going to spend money on music don't spend it on major label artists.
