Tutoring + Mici Midterm

Oct 13, 2006 00:06

Well, tutored for the first time tonight.

Grade 8 math.

Reminded me of how useless a lot of the stuff you do in grade 8 is LOL

Okay so, there was two things that she needed to cover: scientific notation (know that shit like whoa), and how to find the square roots of large numbers without a calculator (WTF)

So anyway. When it came to do the square root stuff, I had NO idea. Honestly, NO idea.

She had:
1) No real notes on it (one sheet on one of the five ways to do it, which didn't provide an example)
2) No math textbook with her
3) When I suggested we go on a computer to look up the terms, she made no movements towards showing me where it was/etc.
4) Hardly any idea at all of what to do (to even give me something to jog my memory)
5) When I had called her BEFOREHAND, asking her what subjects we'd be going over (so I could look them up/whatever), she had no idea and didn't look.

So like... I couldn't help her on that stuff. It's been like a solid ~7 years since I've had to touch that stuff, I've been doing square roots on the calculator forever.

Anyway. Her mom completely understood my dilemma, and wasn't like WTF WHY DON'T YOU KNOW THIS

Hhhhhyyyyeeeeeeah. Anyway, hopefully I'll be called on again. And hopefully I'll have at least ONE example to look at.

Oh, and the microbio/immun midterm wasn't too awful.

I described it as getting raped, but with the rapist being nice enough to use lube.

midterm, test, tutoring, mici, quiz, work
