iraq life

not a lot really changes here. things are still going smooth. back in the same base as our headquarters guys for a while, which is always nice because i have a few friends here that i enjoy seeing. it is also nice because it is a little easier for me to get support for my guys (maintenance to equipment, supply, replacement gear for stuff we break) it is also nice because we have a bit more comfortable standard of living here (2-3 man rooms, beds, etc)
spent christmas pretending i knew how to play volleyball. it was a good time. played poker with the captain who visited and with about 1/3 of the guys. spent new years not doing much. dropped a midnight message to the special lady, and hit the bed early after a long couple of days on the road.
really, that is about it. still looking for bombs. running a truck that has become affectionately known as 'the roach coach' (another story, ping me if you want to know) and living the sweet life. ive gotton to see some interesting places and meet some people that im glad to have met. Spending a couple of days on a multinational base with polish, armenian, romanian, mongolian, bosnian, and brittish forces and getting to interact with them all was a lot of fun.
i still think that this place is amazing and intend to come back after the war with a bike to ride this country. meanwhile though, i am proud of my guys, still glad that i volunteered, but i am definitely ready for my vacation which comes next month. and i am looking forward to coming home as well.
