I am involved in Live Action Role Playing community. This consists of
about 500 people spread throughout New England. In the past years we
have lost multiple members to Cancer. Most recently, 2 very close friends of mine had surgery that was successful to battle cancer, and a dear lady that i dated for two years passed away after a year long bout with cancer. A fundraiser is being held in their memory to benefit the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, in affiliation with Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
During the weekend of September 29-31st there will be a series of
fundraising activities held. They include a fight-a-thon. Our groups
activities include combat with padded weapons. Fights are won by
scoring hits to peoples torso or heads. I am asking my friends,
families, and colleagues to sponsor me for an amount per win, up to
the maximum amount of their choice. I have agreed to continue fighting
until I have won the number of fights people have sponsored me for
(example follows). I will need to continually fight until I hit that
number of wins. So here is your chance to force me to work out hard.
So for example you could say I will sponsor you for .50 a win up to
$10.00 max and I would need to continue fighting until I have 20 wins.
Donations are tax deductible and I will be able to provide you with a
receipt for your pledge.
I have been told that the fight a thon will be unarmored, and with no benefits, so it will be a strait skill fight out and an endurance battle in which if you are hit, you will wait 5 seconds and restart as often as you want until you quit or time ends. Time limit on this is three hours. My personal goal is 300 victories. I think that I can safely promise 200, 300 is a personal goal of mine and is very borderline as to wether it is achievable.
In addition there will be an auction held.
