Ten course meals, the sister and cartoon crushes

Well I still haven’t managed to update this blog as much as I should have done, the irony being I have about 5 different entries typed up and saved in word about various different topics - I also want to write about topical subjects but I procrastinate so much that I’m always too late - for example I wanted to really slag off the Olympics! Bit too late for that I suppose - still I can have a great deal of fun with the American political situation and there upcoming elections. It is quite scary though how unadvanced and unevolved large parts of the American population are - and the disproportionate power they hold to brain cells they have! Palin is a bit of a MILF though.
Anyway what have I been up to? Well I still haven’t managed to get totally on track with a healthy lifestyle - indeed since getting all geared up and preparing myself to be healthy I have actually got more decadent! We went camping a couple of weeks ago to a private wood just outside of Brighton which was fun but not as fun as I thought it would be. It is a bit of a myth that camping is good for you because it gets you out in the open air and you go for country walks and things of that nature - which is true to an extent, but the walks generally end up at a country pub and as soon as you get your stove out you unpack all the bacon and meat and do countless fry ups under the stars so it’s not like you're being healthy, you get really drunk and eat badly, its just in a different environment. I am glad we did it and it was fun but it pissed down on the second day and we were really glad to get home. I do enjoy central heating and soap far too much to want to slum it for too long.

So after getting ‘delightfully’ wet we thought we would treat ourselves and went out with Alex and one of his friends last Thursday to ‘The lobster pot’. Apparently it is a really famous restaurant in London where some of the celebrities go - the chef is mad and will often argue with his customers for no reason or just throw people out, there is also piped sea shanties and seagull noises as you dine. The food was supposed to be amazing though. They do an 8 course meal for £60 which I was a little intimidated by but we though sod it. I met Loulou in town and whilst waiting for her decided to kill time by looking in a few shops - god Topman has gone downhill, so cheap and generic - the whole 80’s fashion thing is going a bit far now, what everyone forgets is that 80’s fashion was rubbish in the 80’s although it looks retro now it is still crap and everyone walks round dressed the same. I decided to kill time in a more upmarket shop instead and whilst on my way to Ted Baker I clocked this rather splendid great coat in a window on Regent’s street. It was rather fabulous and just what I was looking for, admittedly it was over £200 but hey. After that we went to Alex’s flat - I swear it gets more like Withnail’s flat every time we visit - he never has any booze and the place is a shambles. He rather proudly showed us into his back bedroom though and showed us a lion skin rug, but not only that he had a real leopard print rug as well. I think he had got them off an old relative or something. Now I am against poaching but these were rather old, and well they did look impressive (modern day poachers should be executed though)

After drinking a poorly made gin and tonic - he only had slimline tonic WTF!! (I left it) and his friend turned up we went to the restaurant which was only about a minutes walk away. Thankfully there weren’t any dramas with the chef and the food was absolutely amazing in the end after we had finished it all everyone seemed to egg on everyone else into ordering more so we ended up having two extra courses turning the whole thing into a ten course meal. It was amazing though and we defiantly want to go again. Then Alex informed us that his sister had bought him a bottle of Port from 1983 for his birthday so we all went back to his flat to drink it, it was as nice as you think it would be. We must definitely meet up with Alex more often, we do get on well and he is a rather charming man. I have insisted we go to the famous bourbon bar in Trafalgar Square soon.

Loulou seems to be recovering well, I have been really worried about her but she seems to be getting over the operation well and she has just started taking her medication so I’m looking forward to us moving on. She went to see her sister the other night - she hasn’t seen her for over 5 years and they don’t get on at all, there’s a lot of bad blood there. Naturally I was really worried thinking it was going to end badly - however it went really well, which actually made me worry even more. Having heard all the stories about her I could only imagine that she was putting on a front to enable her to trick and manipulate Loulou. Its also in the back of my mind that once when I was having my palm read I was warned about her sister and it was sort of implied that something physical could happen which naturally horrifies me (well only on certain levels! Lol) I really have no desire to meet her. She is a vegetarian to boot and one of these hippies that is into dream catchers and tie-dye. Urgh I hate people like that! Loulou posted some pictures on facebook the other night of them both in the West End and it really threw me! I have been courting Loulou for 5 years and then suddenly she is stood next to her mirror image! They do look like identical twins, very very odd and not something you expect to see in life really just some strange Hollywood film!

In other news, my crush on EM the cartoon girl in 'The Londonpaper' is growing, I actually emailed the artist, a delightful lady, she emailed me back and was very sweet as you would expect so I have made a new friend, my I just can't stop moving in circles of famous people.

food, going out, friends, london
