2008

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Lots of things. Drank alchohol, traveled overseas, visited New York, enjoyed church, dated someone.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't really make any, might make some for 09.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth or get pregnant?
Umm, depends upon how close is close. Sarah and Amy Redmond would be about the closest that I know.

4. Did anyone close to you get married?
Using the same criteria as before, Amy.

5. Did anyone close to you die?
Not anyone that close, but a few people that I knew.

6. Travel?
Ethiopia, London, New York, Washington state, Oregon, Miami, Tennessee.

7. Did you move anywhere?
At times I felt like I moved into my car, but no, not officially.

8. What was the best month?
Probably May. Visited my Uncle Steve in New York with Rebecca and spent 10 days in Ethiopia with Jenna.

9. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Admission to the University of Florida.

10. What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 7 - first date with Jenna.
May 23 - spending most of the day in London.
September 15 - put up over 30 points in a basketball game in the ameteur league I played in. I've never had the chance to play organized basketball before so yeah, it was kinda special.

11. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing up at JU with a ridiculous last semester, ending with an overall GPA of 3.968. Joining a new church ranks pretty high up there too but that wasn't necessarily a personal achievement.

12. What was your biggest failure?
My inconsistency in my walk with God.

13. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Patella Femoral Syndrome. Basically a knee injury from overuse. Isn't anything serious though.

14. What was the best thing you bought?
My 80Gb Zune. Worth every penny I spent on it and more!

15. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My Dad, for finally pulling the plug on our membership at the OC. Also Sarah, for moving up to Washington away from all her family plus having to deal with Andrew being gone for long periods of time but still keeping it all together and making a life for herself.

16. Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
My Dad, for waiting all those years to finally leave the church. And the news media in general, conservative and liberal.

17. Where did most of your money go?
Gas, tuition, insurance, cell phone, paying back loans.

18. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Not even close. The trip to Ethiopia.

19. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Hard to say. Maybe Quiet Times, by Dido.

20. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I guess sadder.
ii. thinner or fatter? Heavier, as I've put on about 10 pounds since last year, but not fatter.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer, atm anyway.

21. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spanish studying over the summer so maybe I wouldn't be so frustrated with it all right now.

22. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Wasting time, particularly in the evenings.

23. How will you be spending New Year's Eve/Day?
Worked some today, will have church at 7pm, and then will hang out with some friends from church till the New Year. Then sleep in on New Years and who knows what else.

24. What was an unexpected surprise?
How God worked out everything for me to go to Ethiopia.

25. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Yes, but unfortunately love isn't quite as dependable as gravity - you don't always keep falling.

26. What was the best concert you've been to this year?
Switchfoot.

27. What was your favorite TV program?
The Unit.

28. Do you dislike anyone now that you didn't dislike this time last year?
Not really.

29. What was the best book you read?
Red Storm Rising. Didn't get to read nearly as much as I would have liked to though.

30. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Joshua Radin, thanks to Jenna's recommendation.

31. What did you want and get?
A new church. A Zune.

32. What did you want and not get?
Admission to UF.

33. What was your favorite film of this year?
Either Dark Knight or Man on Fire.

34. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 21 but I was so busy with school and work around that time that I honestly have no idea what I did.

35. Whats one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I'd say it but it'd start to sound repetitive.

36. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
I guess preppy? Idk, I'm not really up-to-date on all the current style names. Generally consists of jeans, polo or button down shirt, no hat, longer, gelled hair.

37. What kept you sane?
God, music, the gym.

38. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election. I got into politics more this year than I ever have.

39. Who did you miss?
At the risk of sounding cliche, Sarah and Andrew.
