fucking holidays....
so... who wants to hear a tale about a fucked up christmas?
well here goes
yesterday morning after my folks and i opened gifts and had breakfast i went to run an errand (one that it turned out didn't need to be done at all) and on my way back to eastlake, i crashed the integra.
here's what happened: when i was pulling off of highway 55 onto the tree lined road to eastlake i was behind a black kia sedan with a handicap license plate. so i go to pass the car because they're going 30 in a 40mph zone. when i pull into the left lane and downshift the other car swerves into the left lane about a foot ahead of me to block me... holy crap. i stop. and he keeps going. eventually i catch up again because he's going slow. so i go to pass again but as soon as he sees my left turn signal he immediatly stops right in front of me. i slammed the brakes and felt them lock up and the car start to slide forward. the force of the stopping made my lowered car do a nose dive into the kia's rear bumper.
so the whole front bumper was compacted into the exhaust manifold. engine looks good, suspension good, wheels good, tranny's probably good too. the hood is in the shape of an upside-down "U". but, were i to save the car i would need: radiator support, radiator, fans, front bumper, headlights and hood (among other lesser things).
so what happens next? by the time i look up from my hood the dude (6 foot somethin or other, 300+ pounds) is marching toward me looking like he want's to attack me. so i (a foot shorter and several hundred pounds lighter) jump out and start questioning the dude and he, get this, not only denies that he swerved in front of me but also denies that he stopped in front of me. so i called my dad first because i knew he'd get there quicker than the cop. when pop shows up, he pokes a HUGE whole in everything the guy says and just about took off his hat and glassed to fight the dude.
when the dust settled i was at fault because: i was behind him.
fuck the whole world. fuck christmas. fuck the legal system.
hope everyone else's holiday kicked ass.
