Swing

I went swing dancing last night and had the most fun I've had in quite a while (excluding paintballing....the two are just about equal in my book).

Overall yesterday was darn fun. I skipped out on paintballing to go hang out with Dan, b/c he had a rare long spot of free time and he and I haven't hung out in a while. So, we did what he'd promised to do a while ago: help me buy some (tongue-in-cheek term here) "studdly duds." We went to Ross and in non-typical male fashion (no pun intended), spent 3 hours shopping. I came out with 3 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, and shoes. In typical male fashion, none of the items cost a whole bunch thankfully, else I wouldn't have bought them. Found out that I look less like a sickly twig if I just wear about a size smaller in t-shirts and not wear relaxed fit carpenter jeans. Felt a bit wierd, but when I looked at myself, I found that I did look better. Not that I'm trying to be narcissistic, but rather it helps if you can look at yourself and say, "You know, I don't look bad after all." Now, I know I'll never win any "hotness" contests by a long shot, and I'll never try to win, or even enter any of them. It's just helpful to me to be wearing stuff that I look good in (not: makes me look good).

And, I got to wear my new "duds" dancing last night. Got no real compliments from them, but that was b/c all us guys that went dressed up a tad for it ANYWAY. I had ALOT of fun, and it was a good time getting to dance with the chi-alpha ladies who went. Turns out this'll be a regular saturday evening thing, since it's actually swing dancing LESSONS. About an hour for the lesson, then two hours of dancing w/o formal instruction. THe instructors were darn cool, a husband and wife who own and run the place, and the wife reminds me alot of Jessica Vana....not in looks, but in mannerisms. And to think that that entire evening only cost $5 is sweet. Lessons AND dancing all for $5.....excellent. We went out for pizza afterwards, so that added another $5 to chip in for it, but to think that that much fun can be had for just $10 is good news for my bank account.

Now, I just need to find a way to brew my own rasberry mocha latte....else I'll be spending nearly $4 each day for my caffiene hook....and there's no way I'll buy the crap chartwells attempts to brew (they SAY its starbucks, but I've tried it, and it's just plane nasty.....not even close to starbucks except in outrageous price).
