Posting from my new computer

My boyfriend spoils me rotten.  I'm starting to feel like a real housewife (except that I have a job and all my body parts are real).  He got me an awesome laptop for Christmas (though we both know it's as much for me as it is for him, because his cranium reaches near-critical mass every time we wait for my old laptop to do something...anything).  I also got a Kindle, from my moms, and I'm in love with it!
Aside from all the awesome presents I got, this Christmas was very good, all-in-all.  Spent Christmas Eve at my mom's house and had breakfast with Ann and Nicole.  I hadn't seen Nicole in god knows how long, and I hadn't seen Ann in probably about a year and a half, which is way too long to be apart from your best friend.  I also met her boyfriend Pete, who I really like.  Ann's been working on these really cool art pieces consisting of origami flowers placed on pieces of scrap plastic from Pete's job.  They're really cool, and it makes me happy that Pete brings home stuff for her to art with :)
Christmas day, Tristan and Maya headed up to Maya's mom's place early, and Paulie and I had breakfast with my mom and Ruth, which was our traditional Christmas breakfast of bagels with lox and cream cheese.  I eat lox like my grandfather ate whipped cream-no matter what it's on, it always composes about 80% of the meal :)  Anyway, we then went up to Stoneham to meet my dad and Lauria for lunch.  If anyone ever finds themselves in or near Stoneham, Sato II on Main Street is one of the best Chinese/Japanese restaurants I've ever had the pleasure to eat at!  It was incredible!  Most notable was the Peking duck, which both Tristan and I got, and it was wrapped into burrito-style wraps table-side!  So good.  After seeing my dad and Lauria, we headed back to Maya's mom's and saw her family, then Paulie and I went back to my mom's.
On Sunday, we went to my aunt and uncle's in RI.  We watched football, had an amazing dinner, did presents, had an epic Silly String fight (right there in the living room!), got snowbound, and the "kids" spent the night at my cousin Carla's place about 15 minutes away.  It was so much fun, and such a quintessential New England Christmas :)

I've been struggling with food lately.  I've been pretty good about going to the gym, but the combination of starting an almost completely sedentary job and having my period on both of the major food holidays, as well as working in an office that's overflowing with cookies and chocolate has left me not exactly in "calorie deficit" mode.  I lost two pounds last week, but I'm fairly certain I've already gained them back.  I have the best of intentions, but have just been a slave to temptation lately.  I've got to get back on the horse and get with it, which I know I can do.  I'm just a little frustrated.
I'm stoked for New Year's Eve, which will be filled with friends, Mohegan Sun, and booze :)  Just how it should be.  I'm equally excited for Sunday, which will be filled with rest and relaxationg, which is much-needed.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has been safe through the snow!!
