Weddings, Vacations and Sanity . . .

I'm in one of those situations where I'm really looking forward to some awesome, upcoming events. But at the same time, I'm worried because those events will mean that I'm out of town/booked. Normally that wouldn't be a problem.

However, this year (starting from February) has been FAR from normal. In point of fact, a construction company decided we needed to have something dropped on our building. Fun fun. This wouldn't be SO bad if it weren't for the fact that in addition to doing some damage to the structure, they decided to keep doing their soil stabilization work, which invovled almost constant vibration of the ground in their property. Since their construction site surrounds us on 2 of 3 sides (the 4th being sidewalk) we were getting plenty of vibrating too. Our 82 year old building along with it's 82 year old foundation were NOT happy. So we started to sink/settle. Yay!

They're done with the soil stabilization now, but they'll be moving onto the pile driving part next. That means they'll be hammering 915 stone columns that are each about 10 ft. or more 30 or so feet into the ground. And they're wondering why we're concerned that our building will be damaged more with the continued construction even though it's a "different kind of vibration/shaking" as they keep telling us. Yeah, so? We don't want anymore "before and after" type of heart-attack stuff like this:

Before (damage from just the accident)

After (the result of their continued construction)

So now, I'll be worried that something will happen to our building while I'm gone, or what if they need to begin repairs or do something else insurance related? Ah well. I shall have to just wait and see.

But, because of all the stress this little "incident" has been causing, I really can't wait to escape. So, these next 3 months I'm looking forward to at least:

1) A week-long trip to Acapulco at a REALLY nice resort with some family.
2) Velessa & Josh's wedding and associated festivities.
3) My cousins' wedding ceremony in Hawaii 2 days after Velessa & Josh's. Family party time! Woohoo!
4) Visiting Momma D (Alle) after the Hawaii wedding (we're staying a few days extra just for that...mwaha!)
5) My cousin's Chinese wedding ceremony and banquet back in Cupertino.

So let's hope those relax me. *nodsnods*

=^..^=__)
