Hurricanes suck

We are back from Dallas - we HATE Dallas.

Our friend Lisa lost her apartment due to her roof falling in. She and her cat stayed with us a couple of days until she could get a new apartment. We helped to try and salvage and move stuff from her old place on Friday. It was stinky from the mold/mildue but we got some stuff like tables and chairs. She is dealing with all of this really well.

Our friend Donald got his house looted. He lost all of his cool toys.

I am sure there are other friends that have losses that I am not aware of too.

We did okay - other than some money loss from travel/hotel/eating out/etc we are okay. In fact we should re-coop most of the $1,000 plus we spent on the evacuation. We are truely luckly.

The stress is awful. The stress eats at a person. The no knowing what you are coming home to. And now, after returning to work for only a day so far, the stress returns. We refresh the weather channel often on the computer and wait for updates. Are we going to have to evacuate AGAIN? So soon after the last time? Will our luck hold out? Where can we find a room that is NOT in Dallas? How did all of these people survive Katrina? The city is sort of back to normal. Reduced hours of operation everywhere but at least things are open.

If I did not love this citu so damn much I would move. But I do love this city and I hope it can survive another 300 plus years. Wish us luck.
