Update 01.29.2007

Weeeeeeeell, we are leaving for Colorado Springs on Thursday in order to get my mother-in-laws' house in shape for the big move in March. More on that goddamned drama later.

On a more positive note, I spoke with the school counselor at the elementary school that Adam will be attending once we move. Her name is Jackie and she was very helpful and ver pleasant. Dan and I are going up to the school on Friday morning to speak with her and the GATE teacher and take a little tour of the school. The counselor, Jackie, also told me a little bit about their Special Ed program, since Adam will be needing some Occupation Therapy for his sensory intergration issues.  Oh! In other Adam news, Adam has been off the Adderall for a little over a month now! WOO HOO! The best part is that the only diffrence that anyone has reported is that Adam seems more focused, which is really interesing to me. We didn't tell anyone we took him off the meds in order help Adam see that he can get himself under control on his own with things we have all learned through therapy. I am SO EXCITED about this! And by the way, he is really looking foward to the move, so everything seems to be on the right track for Adam.

In Alice news, tomorrow she will be a whole year old. I can't believe she's already been on earth that long. It passed so fast I almost can't believe it. She had her one year check up today and is doing really well. She weighs 17.6 lbs and is 27 inches long. She's almost walking, says two syllable words, and is naughty in general. =P We are now having to deal with her hitting us when she doesn't get her way, which is really interesting to me because, of course, we don't hit eachother in our house. Is hitting instinctual? Who the hell knows. Leave it to one of my kids to, already, have to be put into time out at ONE. lol.

In mother-in-law news, she is immature and insecure as ever. We had a conversation the other day about what kind of expectations we had for this comming weekend, etc. Somehow we started talking about her kid, (surprise!) and I ended up having to reassure her that I wasn't going to interfere with how she raises her kid and how she lets him talk to her. I know, I know, with a NORMAL 50-something year old woman, it wouldn'tbe an issue here, but we're talking about Dan's stapmother, sooooooooo.......the conversation ends and I'm thinking everything is cool. WRONG. Dan comes home and tells me that she called him at work to tell him the following:

1. She's "afraid" that I won't like her once we move up there. (wow, I guess she didn't get the memo)
2. She's "afraid" I'm going to be "mad at her" because the house won't be up to my "expectations" when we get there this weekend
3. She's "afraid" that I won't approve of how she raises Chris

To put it simply, what a fucking jackass. What are we, 12???!!! I think the only way I am going to get through staying with her is to keep myself busy, and rememeber that we won't be there forever. I'm not going to let her stupidness get in the way of our family's success. I also take great comfort in the fact that Dan has reminded me that above all else, I am his wife and the kids and I are his priority. Ergo, Debbie's stupidness is her own issue and not ours. I can't stand her. =P

Whew! That's it for now...I will update some more as we get closer to moving. WOO HOO!!!!!!
