My Dad is crazy. He is 62. He invites tons of his fellow geologists from all over the world to dinner, and some to spend the night. He is now in Mexico researching sinkholes (like really deep natural wells) with a bunch of them this week.
Bowling (badly) with good friends. Drinking microbrewed beer in backyards over excellent conversation.
Taking 4 mile walks with two athletic dogs, a good friend and her Dad. Eating smelly cheeses, olives, and smoked salmon with cream cheese and lemon. Really, really ripe and juicy blackberries. An hour and a half of all the free games you can play at Main Event. Playing DDR, acting a fool and not caring. Reuniting with old friends and learning that sometimes even the most absurd drama can be overcome with time. Crashing a party. Salsa Meringue! Si se puede! Garden Enchiladas and coffee at 4:30 AM with chatty waiters.
Mommy time. A Prairie Home Companion and the audience of cheese-fed retirees with Minnesotan accents. Buying running shoes so that I can take 4 mile walks and not get shin problems. Ciabatta, fresh mozzerella, tomato and basil. Seeing the governor of Texas at the same restaurant, surrounded by well- dressed secret service agents in this summer's best casual wear.
Next Up: Beck!! Houston! LUKE!!!!!!!!! Sonic Youth!! : )
