I knew he liked to talk about himself, but he wanted the whole world to know..
Really tired today. I was tired yesterday, but I drank a lot of tea and put my mp3 player on and powered through as best I could. Last night I had nightmares. Not supernatural, Silent Hill-esque dreamscapes as I sometimes do. Just garden variety, unexpected and explicit violence through an unflinching subconscious camera.
When I do get to feeling run-down, I often need music to prop me up. Pavement is some of the best.
Other times I need music to calm me down and help me focus. Instrumental stuff is better for that, and video game soundtracks.
Took gravity readings on two beers last night. The Belgian dubbel is sitting at 1.016 - near the high end,, but ready to bottle. The Berliner Weisse is at 1.018, which is too high. It needs a few more days - maybe at a warmer temperature. Then I can bottle half and dry-hop the other half with something fruity - amarillo seems like the natural pick.
I played a little Mario Galaxy last night. It is such a pretty, uncomplicated but fun game. Meanwhile Goblin chewed through another cord. Since he has chewed through the speaker cords and the VGA audio input to the TV, the only way to get sound for our sweet living room gaming PC is to hook up a pair of iPod speakers that we found in a dumpster. The resulting sound is less than beautiful. So we ordered some new speakers and critter cords to go with them.
My focus is, honestly, slipping. I've been too tired to maintain the same level of focus. I have all but conquered the basement. But there is still the attic, the garage, the game room, the keg set-up. Thinking of it when I get home makes me want some tequila.
And at work.. I have my cold Holliday junctions. The hot Holliday junctions. The site-directed mutants and sequencing. I should design some more primers for attL. And the teaching responsibilities. How did it become almost the week before spring break already?
