Disjointed entry. I'd found a balance, but it is wobbling at the moment.
Woke up in a foul mood today. I had bad dreams - the more grown-up kind. Not monsters in the dark (as much as my subconscious favors them) but driving while out of it and then seeing a line of ambulances behind me, and the sinking realization that I was at fault. Thanks, subconscious! I hate you, too.
My old sansa SanDisk finally had an issue, so the display doesn't work. Since it was set on shuffle already, I guess I have a 1 gb iPod Shuffle now, huh?
The Clip+ isn't quite as hardy, but it does still work somewhat after being stepped on and played with by cats. That's not too bad, either. (Poor thing.)
Saw Hunger Games. Pretty good. A few structural things I didn't like, but certainly a much stronger first outing than Harry Potter. Kept the feel of the books well, and the casting was phenomenal. I would recommend seeing it. I'll be reading the other books.. soonish. I know once I start they'll be hard to put down.
I keep wanting to do Let Me Tell You about My Character posts for my Baldurs Gate characters as a way of reminiscing about the games, but it feels awfully self-indulgent, even for me. Also, maybe even worse than regular Let Me Tell You about My Character.
My mind is bubbling over with ideas as a way to distract myself.
Team Rocket MaoCT - It's going to happen, it really is. Red/Blue/Yellow setting, crime heists expected. Tone negotiable but not super grimdark.
Beholders and Other Childish Things D&D with the MaoCT ruleset. Children or people living in a Tristram-like town by a dungeon, using it as a way to support themselves. Their monsters, of course, are a major part of this. (Monsters and other Childish Things is just So Good.)
The replacements Just because I know it would be great with my current group.
Paranoia: Orcbusters This is a prewritten adventure with D&D adventurers teleporting into Alpha Complex somehow. But, I think it would be more fun, more personal, and more terrifying in fact if the adventurers were previous player characters of the people playing the Paranoia game.
Dragon Age: War of the Tower Dunno what system, but it would be based on the apparently cancelled idea for the expansion to DA2. The idea as I understand it is that the Chantry (paladin-types) and the Mages. I have been interested in running a "mage vs. non-mage" sort of revolution game for a while, and this might be a little easier for people to sink their teeth into. On the other hand, I think it might be more fun to create my own setting for this and play up the moral ambiguity a bit more.
Mouse guard Mice of NIH: inspired by a mouse in the pipes here in lab today. A mouse society set up in a lab complex. Very different from the standard Mouse Guard but an interesting possibility..
Central American Mythos Lots of games crib from Norse mythology, but what about the rich Aztec lore? Not exactly sure what you would do with it, though, because it's an incredibly alien mindset.
Ravenloft Burning Wheel I am not 100% familiar with Burning Wheel, but it might be a good way to use the social mechanics. Talking to the darklord when there's a real chance it will leave you changed isn't such an appealing proposition..
