Keeping track of everything

This weekend went by in skips and jumps.

I agreed to look after my labmate's dogs, who are both rescues. They were really sweet - Jill helped out a lot with it. I nearly lost my phone but otherwise there weren't any problems. In exchange we got deer steaks and red wine, which were amazing. Best red wine I've had. I also drank a Chimay blue - good stuff, but I think I might like the red better. Seems like some of the Belgian beers have a pretty pronounced cold haze.

We saw How to Train Your Dragon. I really liked it. It was a fun movie and both the vikings and the dragons were entertaining. The 3d was pretty well done and made me glad we saw it in theaters.

I cleaned up some. It is a never-ending struggle. This weekend the bathroom and a little bit more laundry were vanquished. The bathroom window had become a mold farm - it was covered in spores. It stank of them as I scrubbed it off, and I had to retreat a couple times after thinking how thick they must've been in the air. Hopefully they weren't the toxic kind!

John was here to visit but the chi was not aligned for CoC, I don't think. A shame. Also a shame: Paul shut down his online DnD 4e game, though it had a good and fun run. I can't help getting more ideas for RPGs (the latest is a Demon-esque reskin of Geist) but there seem to be less and less chances to actually play them.

I opened up Animal Crossing again. Gasp. Rune Factory kinda just made me want to play Animal Crossing instead. Maybe it will grow on me later.

I finished Iorich last week. It was solid but not as amazing as some of the earlier Vlad books in my opinion. I still can't quite decide what to read next. I read a little more of Ramsey Campbell's Cold Print while Jill had her interview this morning. Pretty good stuff. While the Delta Green write-ups and nicely evocative, they're definitely not as good as the source material. As it should be, really.

I am really close to finishing the Dragons of an Hourglass Mage book but have to say I feel a bit let down by it. I will say more once I have actually finished the thing.

I am developing a bit of an aversion to mindless TV. Even as just background noise I am finding it increasingly hard to tolerate. The awful tones of the Travel channel and Spike and Food Network narrators are just insufferable.

Jill and I have been watching Arrested Development and one episode of Being Human instead. English TV, you are our savior.

Hoping to get to a hardware store soon, to get the rest of the supplies I need for all-grain brewing. I am hoping to conquer some of my wariness towards tools in the process.
