Bath Stone,

Wiltshires Bath Stone quarries are infamous.... kinda like a far less visited and much 'roomier' version of the old Quarries beneath Paris ('The Catacombs'). There's a good dozen of them, and their states of being range from 'completely empty' to 'still used by the MOD'.

After seeing years worth of photos, dating back from the earliest explorations in the UK, i finally got my arse in gear, and with Snappel, in the Cavalier, headed over to Wiltshire, where we picked Oxygen Thief up, upon which, he very kindly gave us a tour through two of them, Ridge and Monks Park. Unlike the infamous Burlington, Monkton Farleigh and Spring quarries, these two weren't fully converted to WW2 and Cold War Munition depots. As such, they are easy to access and there was no stress about getting frog marched out in handcuffs by Military Police.

I didnt get many pics in Ridge, as its entirely empty. Monks Park tho, has been left 'as was', with only the machinations of the local pikeys showing itself, in the way that *all* the copper had been stripped.

A way out...

Eating porridge till the next shift starts...

We spent a reasonable amount of concentration navigating, as beyond a few 'signs', the place gets a tad labyrinthine...

Secret holes in secret walls leading to secret MOD? Nah... Wrong quarry.

Pneumatic Drill Battle Royale.

Flat Battery :(

The Queen Mary.

Lower Levels.

Heading out.
