Bailed Up.

Its been about six years since i last got busted by the Police while exploring.

Between 1998 n 2002 i got caught emerging from manholes, cutting padlocks on drain grilles, 'borrowing' boats to go to Cockatoo Island, inside White Bay Power Station n down Gladstone Park Reservoir amongst others. Each time the Police very kindly let me and the others with me off with warnings, after they saw we were only exploring.

Around 2002 i got more careful, well aware i was out of the 'just a teenager playing around' phase by a good four years.

I never got busted in the UK, came close twice in North America n havent in the last two years back in Australia... Until today, lol.

Feccie n i went to do the abandoned Unilever/Flora Factory in Sydenham. Id been there for a few hours a few days back. Jump a few fences, stay away from the Dairy Farmers factory next door n bobs yer uncle. No worries.

Today tho, the seccer next door was a bit more vigilant, n Fecc n i had barely been onsite for more than a half hour. We were trying to find a way into a building that had been open last time id been there, when suddenly we heard something we've never heard before: "GET ON THE GROUND! FACE DOWN! ON THE GROUND, NO, ON THE GROUND, NOW! ARMS OUT ABOVE YOUR HEADS, PALMS FACING UP TOWARDS US! NOW!" Turning around we found ourselves facing five hunched over cops, pointing five Glock 9mm handguns at us...

The head cop then got to use some cool lingo: 'Stick some jewelrey on this pair boys'. The 'jewelry' being used these days dun look like the handcuffs in the movies. No shiny cuffs with dangly chains between them. These were a dull grey and anchorred together using thick, tight, close fitting links. Not that i saw them for the first 10 minutes... i was lying flat on my face, sucking floor, hands behind my back while they rifled through our pockets. They sat us up, then stood us up, then walled us n frisked us, before running our licenses. During all this we explained our intent, photos and exploration... NOT COPPER STRIPPING! (those bastard strippers have had a lot to answer over the years as we've been mistaken for them on a few occaisions.).

Both of us were very apologetic, having never guessed we'd illicit such a response. They were perplexed when they discovered my camera took film and it didnt take them long to twig we were telling the truth. I heard them mention my previous Trespass warnings, with the comment 'yeah it was 6 years ago' and Feccies rep, which was clean. They told us off n escorted us out, stopping so we could, of our own choice, apologise to the security guard, n they saw us out the gates warning us to stay away from the immediate vicinity for the next 48 hours or face a $500 fine.

Its always a relief to get away.

A drain Trioxide n i did a few days back. Newly found, its no London system, but in a city where over 400 drains have been found in the past 15 years, a new one this good dunt come round often.

Getting out.
