one word: BLAH!!! I can has sunny skies nao? seriously.
so i'll be writing and doing the five things meme.
Comment on this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate with you. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
from my bday twin (
halfbloodme):
Janeway
-- i expected you to pick this one ;) lemme explain by first saying that when dad made me sit and watch Voyager (Future's End, as most of you know, was my first ep), I knew zip about the cast and characters. So the first thing I noticed was Tom Paris at the conn. (Hello, blue-eyed hunk. XD) Kathryn was the second thing I took close notice of--and it was more than "oh hi, female captain". It was her "I don't tolerate anyone's BS" attitude....how she dealt with Starling's lousy attempts at intimidation and such. All I could think was "I like this chick". Now, I love her. heh.
Kira/Odo
-- because Rene and Nana had SUCH chemistry and meshed so well, and it showed in their characters, among ten thousand other reasons. Though I think I explained it best when I used them as an example for a past Writer's Block QOTD. See here:
http://sio.livejournal.com/365533.html DS9
-- my second Trek love (Voyager was the first). After I got into Voyager my best friend Bri's mom tried to get me to watch DS9. at first, I incorrectly assumed that DS9 would be boring. "How can a show on a space station be interesting?? It's boldly GO, not sit and wait for it to come to you," I said. Wave just rolled her eyes and kept insisting I try it. Resistance is proved futile when my friend Richard made me sit and watch it instead (see Odo/Kira entry link....it was that very day)
NCIS
-- I kept seeing previews back during the run of the first season. Finally I got curious and tuned in. and LOVED it! The original team meshed so well....Gibbs the skeptical hard-ass, Kate the no-nonsense girl, Tony the devil-may-care smart-ass, Ducky with his rambling ways and of course Abby, everyone's favorite goth girl forensics queen. I cried and yelled when Kate was murdered by Ari. I started third season determined to not like Ziva (who happens to be Ari's sister)...but Cote de Pablo won me over SO hard. And now I ship Ziva with Tony. Why? because they are like Voyager's J/C and P/T combined. They snipe and snark at each other (like P/T did in their flirting days) and they obviously WANT each other....yet they pretty much deny it (like J/C did for seven f-ing years). Hopefully, NCIS' PTB will be wiser than the idiots also known as Berman and Braga. :snirk:
Blinkies
-- I've recently become addicted to blinkies, thanks to the girls at the SPA. Can I make them yet? Not really. I've tried. I'm working on it, I swear.

Ireland (this could have nothing at all to do with you, but your LJ name looks Irish, and therefore I have imagined that you have some connection to Ireland.)
-- actually you're right. I'm Irish on both sides of the family and really wish I knew more abt my direct ancestry. And my username is Irish, in a way. Back a long time ago, when I tried to html my own blog, I took the Gaelic word "siochain" (peace) and tried to make it look feminine by adding an A on the end. I got lazy in a matter of weeks and "siochaina" became "sio". So when I registered for LJ that's what I picked instead of the "full" version.
Fandom
-- fandom has enriched my life. seriously. I've made more friends in fandom than can be made in RL. (okay, online, but still--they're 90% through fandom. The other 10% are through my graphics groups.) there's just something about media (Books, TV, movies) that draws like-minded ppl together and I like being part of it.
Blinkies
-- see above answer ;)

Bertrice Small
-- many moons ago, I grabbed a random stack of books from the library. Among them was Wild Jasmine. The whole idea sounded interesting (Princess Yasaman has to flee from her native India to England and there she meets the English mother she never knew....and so the story goes). I finally made my way to that point in the stack, read it, liked it. Belatedly realized there's a whole other line of books attached to this one. Just who the hell is Skye O'Malley anyway?! Besides Yasaman's aka Jasmine's grandmother--though I love this woman's attitude! Picked up the first Skye book, now I'm hooked. (okay bad pun...but it's the truth!)
(You mentioned her in an entry recently, and I couldn't tell if you like her or you collect her out of silly nostalgia. Did I ever mention I've met her and have signed books? CAUSE I DO!)
-- OMG SHUT UP!! unfair!! :-p
Cats
-- I have loved cats since I was little. Not that there's anything wrong with dogs--dogs are cool too. I just like the mystery of cats. And I like their shape....there's something gracefully beautiful about their slender tails and delicate pointed ears and soft paws. I know, I'm weird. I've just always been a cat person.
