Parents they may be, but she, she's special.
Following my grandmother's death there were some inheritance issues that had my aunt and father at odds and I was all but summarily banned from visiting her. But they're talking again, civily, and I know it's selfish, but I hope he'll let me see her.
I only reconnected with my aunt a couple years ago but we've gotten pretty close -her being the one family member that I truly and unconditionally love. Truth be told, the 'ban' wouldn't have stopped me. My parents are rarely home and they have no control of my e-mail or myself the moment I leave for school. The campus is only twenty minutes from her house and I would readily visit her during my breaks. Yes, I'd lie. Yes, I'd sneak. As much as I'd rather avoid resorting to that kind of deception, this is my aunt, someone who I've come to appreciate immensely.
All this just to say that I'm glad the air is clearing between my dad and aunt.
