I got perfect on my photo roman! Yatta! :3 She liked it a lot, and it seems a fair chunk of the mark was because of the story and the writing style. Glad to know I'm French-compatible. *glows*
We were supposed to be doing notes in English on reading for understanding, but it morphed into a heated debate on the fine line between plagerism and paraphrasing. It's a bit discouraging to learn that a graduating high school Advanced class doesn't understand the implications of copying someone's work without proper credit. "What's so wrong?" Well, if someone took my idea(s) I would want to club them in the head and only law would prevent me from doing so. Writers are generally possessive of their creativity.
I had to get some other stuff done so I was only able to watch one anime episode today. VK 01.
I already did my bit on themes. When the soundtrack comes out, I am so getting it. :)
The animation is quite decent, now the question is whether Studio Deen can maintain this quality throughout the series? Unless you're Kyoto productions, I doubt it. It's mean of me, I know. Best way I think to enjoy this series is to watch with low expectations. You'll get blown away each time. (This is my general take on life as well.)
The Day Class girls are very correct, excellent fangirls. Watching Aidou is like watching Pride and Prejudice 2005's Mr. Bingley: he's portrayed dumber than he actually is. Grave error Studio Deen, Aidou's my favorite character. I'll warrant that Aidou can be a bit of an airhead at times, but he's not full-time stupid. He's a joy to listen to though even if I was initially trying to catch a trace of Lelouch - only a tiny, tiny bit. I lubve Jun Fukuyama! ^-^
When the Night Class came through the gates, the classical music in the background was a perfect touch. xD And go Zero for putting Kaname in his place! (ish)
Aidou bitching and ranting and scribbling in a notebook. I loved Ruka's comment, "It's like you were in love with him." Leave it to Shiki to make an awkward remark about his human cousin. [Kaname: *twitch*] And Rima just throws food to him. Kawaii. Shiki and Rima is my second favourite pairing. <3 I should reread the series, I've forgotten just how, um, bitchy Ruka was at the beginning - she gets better as the story continues, mellows out a bit.
Hate to say it, but the vampire eyes look hideous. I really don't like them.
I love how Zero "pays too much attention to the details." It's funny to think that this is Tamaki (or even Light) throwing a fit about family semantics. *giggle* The Headmaster's a crack, but I really love his eyes. *0* They're ambery and pwetty. :)
Personally, I would have preferred people waited until the series was complete as a manga before creating its anime counter-part. (Think Ouran, how good that would have been as a proper series.) Since Studio Deen is making VK 26 episodes, they're having to compress all the dark undercurrents in the series to fit. This especially applies to Takuma - yes, thank you, we get it, enough with the dark hints. I can only stand him in certain concentrations. Really, he's almost as annoying as Suzaku. D:
For the blood-drinkning scene, Aidou was very cool until the "you're really tempting me" part. Eh, just don't like the eyes. And isn't his natural eye-color a dark green-blue, not bright aqua? When we see the shot of Akatsuki (Naruto! xDD) Kain's back, I immediately remembered the bonus story "I must have been born under and unlucky star." Just thinking of that made everything else uber funny.
Aidou's coolness resumed when Zero shot his Bloody Rose. Expression: precious. And later on we get Zero fanservice, right off the bat, episode one. Ah, wonderful.
All in all, it wasn't a bad episode. Just keep it up Studio Deen and I might forgive you for Saiyuki!
