Title: After It All, A Cookleta Fanfic
Summary: David's been MIA for the past two years after a publicized scandal. When he's about to get into the same kind of trouble, will Cook save him this time or will history repeat itself?
Pairing: Cookleta. Mentions of Kradam.
Raiting: PG-13 (?) xD

A/N: God. Listening to Heartless by Kris Allen then You Found Me by Matt Giraud and this little baby pops out. Sigh. Enjoy. My first Cookleta fic.

Three years had passed since that epic finale of the seventh season of American Idol. David vs. David. It seems almost comical to the 21 year old Archuleta now. The American Idol craze had finally run its course and the show was cancelled after the scandalous kiss between Season Eight winner Adam Lambert and then-married-now-divorced Kris Allen. Needless to say, the station and devout Christians had promptly shunned the show. Kradam lived on despite it all though. The last heard from the very much in love pair was their widely publicized exchange of vows in Florida.

Closing the Firefox window with a sigh, David closed his eyes and he let the memories of his run on Idol and drastic end to his career rush over him. Funny thing was, the only happy memory he had was Cook's smiling face telling him that everything would be fine. But everything wasn't fine. And it wasn't for the past two of years ever since that incident.

It was the unbelievable splatter of pictures of a half-naked, bruised David on the front page of the Tattler several months after his loss. His father, in a fit of rage after David told him his plans of leaving the music industry, had beaten him senseless and proceeded to take advantage of him. It was only after the damage had been done that the police found out that his father had been using drugs for the past six months. Jeff Archuleta was sentenced to life in prison for drug abuse and raping his own son.

David pretty much disappeared after that. He couldn't face everyone after the incident. A year after all the hype settled, David moved from the suburban district he had holed himself up in to New York. A pretty populated place but when your old news, no one tends to notice anymore.

David turned off his computer and grabbed his jacket to take a walk around the hotel pool. He hadn't found a place to rent yet and his friend Andrew had hooked him up with a room in this hotel. Wandering idly at 2 AM in the pool area, David clutched his leather jacket tighter around him. This jacket had long lost the scent of the person who gave it to him but he wore it all the same.

'Cook...' David though absently. 'I miss you.'

Without warning, a rough grab startled him out of his thoughts and he was pushed inside one of the poolside cabanas.

“What the he--” A hand muffled his shout.

“Well, well, what do we have here? Seems like little Archie has finally returned.”

The man's sneering face reminded David of his father's that night. David closed his eyes and tried to will the memory away. The feel of his father's hands on his hips, the bite mark he left on David's neck and the shrill scream of his mother when she saw him lying prostrate on the ground.

“Please... don't...”

The man's sneer grew wider. “Sorry little David, I can't hear you...”

The frightened man heard the familiar sounds of a belt unbuckling and a zipper being pulled down.

'Oh God..' David tried to shout but his voice just wasn't working. 'Not again... Please... Not again.'

Just as his attacker started to pull open his shirt, the lights in the cabana flickered to life.

“The hell?” the man said in surprise before someone smashed a vase over his head.

The man fell to the ground unconscious. David hastily pulled on his pants and raised his eyes to see his rescuer. His mouth dropped open in shock. Biting his lip to hold back his tears, David ran towards him and embraced him in a giant hug.

“Cook...” David muttered softly, sniffling, “It's been so long.”

Cook hugged the smaller man tightly to his body. “Too long.”

“Thank you.”

Cook leant back and took David's face into his hands. “I've missed you, David. When you left, I didn't know what to do... Your mom didn't know where you were... I was going crazy trying to find you.”

David let tears fall from his eyes. “I'm sorry... I... just couldn't deal with it all. Dad and everthing. I wanted to be left alone. Everywhere felt unsafe.”

“You had me. You could've called or--”

David's eyes flashed with hurt. “You were a hundred miles away, Cook. On a tour.... I didn't want to trouble you.”

Cook clutched him close once again. “You would never trouble me, David. You're the most important thing in the world to me. I would have run that hundred miles if I had to. If you had asked me too.”

David pulled away and sat on a nearby lounge chair. “It's my fault. I was just so scared... I didn't know what to do. I was only 18...” Watching the guards take his attacker away, he asked.. “How did you find me?”

“Harvey Levin.”

“Eh...?”

“One of his camera guys spotted you checking in this hotel and he called me. The man isn't an evil bastard, after all.”

David smiled faintly. “I have to thank him.”

Cook sat next to David on the lounge and looked in his eyes seriously. “I'm never going to leave you again, you hear me. I'll be here for as long as you want me to.”

“Cook...”

Everything fell into place right at that moment. David didn't want to run anymore. He knew that just as long as Cook was there with him, he'd be safe. He'd be loved. There was nothing to be afraid of anymore. Placing his hand on the older man's cheek, he leaned forward and gave him a gentle kiss.

Cook smiled and proceeded to kiss him back feverishly. The kiss turned passionate and Cook dragged his tongue across David's bottom lip. Opening his mouth, David draped his arms around Cooks neck and moaned. David had never felt so at peace with himself.

Several minutes later, Cook rested his forehead against David's and grinned. “That was... wow.”

David smiled happily for the first time in two years.

The healing would take time, but he would eventually. This is where he belonged. With Cook. There was no doubt about it. David would have his happy ending, after it all.

A/N: God that was sappy. I'm sorry for making you a rape victim, Archie!!! I love Cookleta to DEATH. *flail*
