I still haven't figure out what to do with the name he gave me. "Use it," he says. "William." How the hell am I supposed to use a human name, anyway? I don't still have a human side to use it with. I'm Envy.

An actual name is better than an abstract concept with a negative connotation, Will. Though I'm sorry your own mother didn't care about you enough to even remind you of it. So I thought it would only be kind to give you the name that I know, for sure, that at least one version of you had as a human.

If you were just "Envy", you wouldn't have the kind of hatred you do towards Dante. She was your mother, and you were nothing but a tool to you. It hurts, when you realize you're being used.

Even if you can't remember living as a human, that part of you is still there. Do you remember your human face?

I can remember living as a human just fine. I remember the face I had then. And I know I'm not that human anymore.

Physically, you're not. But you still have emotions. I know you still have them, which means that a part of you is still human.

All the sins are based on emotion. On wanting something. Emotion doesn't make you human.
