In my experience, words are nothing but a tool to gain an end. I wouldn't say everyone lies to that end but the vast majority, yes.

I apologize for not being clear enough. I was more specifically wondering if the words of a man who spent his life acting one way, would be more truthful as he dies even if they go against every word and action during his lifetime.

I am not speaking of the sort of common lies people tell every day to get by.

It would depend on that individual wishes to achieve with their words, I'd have thought. The purpose for which they tell lies or the truth, that is.
