Pithy Reflections On Past Lovers
This would be a good short story title, but the bitter edge to it is unmistakable. Anyway.
1. He thought he deserved to feel shame, so he created it for himself.
2. He couldn't handle refusal or reproach. He blamed me for his own self-awareness.
3. An unhappy person who found it convenient for a short while. I guess I did too.
4. Too shielded and odd and better as a friend.
5. Bad timing, over and over. Charming in an alternate universe sort of way.
6. He selfishly believed that only his notion of love could be true and valid.
7. He wasted too much energy on pretending to be things he was not.
8. We were just too young to know anything.
