OOTP was actually pretty much awesome

Lets get one thing clear. I love the Harry Potter books. I've read them all multiple times, and I have...however reluctantly...seen all of the movies to this point.

Up until last night, the only movie I could tolerate was the first.
I went into OOTP thinking it was probably going to suck.

I was wrong.

Yes they cut things. But the stuff they cut was either the emo crap that really wouldn't have fit well in the movie (although, yes, they did put a bit of that in). And yeah, they did have to change stuff. But most of what they changed was either not A) Enormously main plot-centric or B) To streamline over the bits where they had to cut everything.

The stuff they changed worked. The stuff they cut could be cut, so far as the movie goes.

As far as the new characters introduced in this movie (notably, Umbridge and Lovegood), both actors, in my opinion, got the character dead fucking on.

Anyone who's seen a Book => Movie adaptation with me knows that I'm extremely critical of them. And...that's being a little kind. I hated movies 2-4 with a passion. I hope they keep this new director. I really do, maybe he'll be able to not suck up the next 2 movies too.

And yes, OOTP was my favorite book so far.
