Okay....

Watching the commentaries on Spaced got me to thinking about the kind of people I deal with.

Book one is focused on William, who, even if you know him, is one scary mo-fo with his hair-trigger temper, general disregard for law, and his propensity to use his fists, and the threat thereof, to make a point.

Book three will be focused on Audrey, who's suffering from fourth degree emotional scars. Suicidal, homicidal, and armed do not a safe feeling provide.

Stepping back, book two is focused on me, *bows*, but even I scare or, at the least, disturb many people. The range of my sexual experience can be intimidating, the range of what I will defend peoples rights to do can be disgusting, and my range of personal experience can shake most people's conceptions of reality.

But book four, and this is the point of all this, book four is to be about people, normal people, with (mostly) normal lives. No guns, no violence, no death. Hell, not even any fistfights. Sure, there will be some drug use, kinky sex and polyamory, which are things some people may not relate to, but it's all nominally normal. These people don't make life-or-death decisions, they don't stare into the darkness of the world and of their own souls. No, all they do is live their lives as best they can while trying to find a sense of closeness and belonging with other people.
