Most people that just casually meet me tend to think I'm just off having wild, crazy sex all the time.
I wish.
I have fun when I have fun, but some nights I just want to go home, curl up on the couch, and watch some TV.
Doctor Who and Torchwood are my two favorites in current shows. I also dig Pushing Daisies and was thrilled to hear it will be back next year. I used to be into Lost but kind of lost it for a while, I'll probably pick up the DVD sets to get back into it at some point.
For shows that are no longer on air but I still watch regularly I go for Buffy, Angel, X-Files, Firefly, Wonder Falls, Dead Like Me, and ye olde Star Trek: The Next Generation. I like shows that mix tones and styles.
I can't get into the old Dr. Who and Star Trek because the sets, effects, and acting just knock me right out of it. I don't look down on them or think badly of people that like them, but they just don't work for me. I'm spoiled on the new shit. (I do actually like the Star Trek movies (most of them, anyway) since they had higher production values.)
I don't watch cop dramas, law shows, or CSI procedural like things because if I'm going to watch, or read about, something that is supposedly realistic than I'd prefer to go for the real thing. Thank you, Discovery Channel, History Channel, Science Channel, and some others.
I don't watch reality TV (i.e. contest shows) because it makes me sad and swiftly destroys my faith in humanity. I just find that they all celebrate being lying, manipulative assholes, and I don't like that.
That's a similar reason why I don't watch many sitcoms... the celebration of self-centered jackasses. Not all sitcoms do that, and I quite like My Name is Earl with the underlying message that being good is a good thing. But for every Earl and Big Bang Theory there are too many The Office and Friends.
