[ Warnings ] Not a lot...The images of her family at the end aren't really graphic, but? XD; TL;DR + So, so much headcanon
[ Dream Effects ] Optional as always. First a sense of blinding pain all over the body. Whoever is watching will feel compelled to cry out because the pain is hella painful. The pain is mingled with a sense of helpless and then anger and hatred. These feelings slowly ebb away into those of adoration and relief.
[ Notes ] Road is probably going to be the only one who can see the Earl's face clearly. Anyone else, especially Exorcists, won't be able to make out who it is.
The pain had come out of nowhere. First the girl had complained about a throbbing, irritating pain in her head, but the family doctor had merely dismissed it as not having enough fresh air. If anything, the air outside, the colours, the noises, made everything worse. She became irritable, not the usual cheerful little girl that filled the mansion with laughter and joy. The girl lashed out at servants, breaking things, just causing trouble wherever she went much to the dismay of her loving parents. The throbbing soon turned into a pounding and
marks began to appear on her forehead, marks that made the servants cross themselves and mutter prayers under their breathes. Stories of those crosses were whispered throughout the countryside; old folk lore that had been told to keep children in line. The crosses on the forehead were far from holy and it even worried the master and mistress of the household.
They sought the advice of a priest and he saw it as a bad omen. The girl was possessed. No one was to touch her unless they wanted to become infected by the demon within her as well. They agreed without so much of a word of protest. So they had her isolated, strapped to a bed so that she couldn't move, couldn't even tear away at the horrible crosses that burned her forehead.
"Mother, please! Don't let them do this, mother! Please make it stop, make the pain stop. I promise to be good, just MAKE IT STOP!"
The woman squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block her little girl's screams as her body strained against the restraints holding her down. Her tears and sweat began to mingle together as the pain grew and her pathetic excuse for a mother stood there, trying to hide behind her good for nothing father who in turn stood behind a disgusting old priest who thought that he knew what was best. And the audience. The so called 'family' that she had once known were nothing but mindless drones, only good for serving. They looked down on her with pity, with contempt and fear. They were disgusting every single one of them. Anger bubbled inside her and her body bucked against the straps holding her to the bed. Her voice, already hoarse from the crying and screaming grew shrill and shadows suddenly flew from the corners of the room, engulfing the space around them and the girl blacked out suddenly.
Cries of horror filled her ears and the splash of something wet washed over her face. The sound...it had been the most glorious sound she had ever heard in her life. It soothed the fire in her head and the pain was quickly smothered. And the smell...even though it made her want to gag at first, it was such a glorious smell. When she came to, a
man, a kind looking man, she decided, stood over her with a wide grin.
"My poor child," he cooed. "Look what these people have done to you. They weren't a very nice family, were they? Getting their ugly blood all over your pretty nightgown…We'll have to get you something new to wear, won't we~? You'd like that, right?" Unable to find her voice still, she shook her head weakly, almost feeling alarm at the mention of blood coating her nightgown. The man tutted and snapped his fingers causing the tight bonds encasing her to come loose. He held out a hand to her, helping her frail body up with shaky legs. His body hid the view behind him, but that didn't matter because all the girl could see was this wonderful, kind man and his wide, wide smile. Any feeling of anxiety or fear or confusion were quickly gone in the blink of an eye, ebbing away from her body as something warm replaced it. "Humans are all like that though. You can't expect them to be anything but your dolls. Their emotions are their downfall."
"...But I'm human." He let out a laugh that filled the room and it almost made her smile too. He ruffled her hair affectionately and his eyes glowed, emitting such a lovely light.
"No, no~ You are anything but human. You, my child, my first child, are a Noah. Only a Noah could do something like what you just did. You posses the dreams, don't you, Road~?"
Something in that name changed the girl. A pale, greyish tinge quickly flooded her skin and the crosses became more prominent as her posture changed as well. She stood up straighter, and even though the laugh she let out was one of a little girl's, it didn’t match the complete exuberance of something maniacal in her eyes. Her skinny arms wrapped around the man's body and she rested her head in the crook of his neck, having to stand on her tip toes to do so. The scene behind the Earl was glorious: bodies strewn up against the walls, nailed there with candles in the most gruesome ways. Blood oozed and dripped everywhere, splashed across the windows and the walls, their faces frozen in expressions of complete horror and fear. It pleased her and her eyes shone with tears of happiness when the memories of everything of her past lives came flooding back. How silly she was to think she was content with those bodies that she called her family. Those humans - those dolls - were only mere play things. No, her real family was the Noah; they were all that mattered now.
"Millennium Earl! I missed you!"
[The first part of the dream leaves Road almost breathless. While it should have been a happy memory, it was when she was reunited with the Earl after all, the anger still lingers there. Even though her face doesn't betray it, the pain that she felt during the dream still sends dull throbs throughout her body. She casts a glance at the Dreamberry before slamming a pillow down on top of it before curling under her covers again. She doesn't want to be reminded of her past life before the Noah family. They're all that matters. They are what is important.]
