i'm having some problems with firefox and am looking for a little bit of help. it seems as if i've lost my quick search bar capabilities. all of my search engines have disappeared. when i go to add engines on firefox's website...i'll click on one of the choices to add it, but it won't add anything. can anyone help me out (michael, haha)? thanks!

I'd just make a new profile. To do this, make sure firefox is closed, open Start->Run and type
"firefox.exe -profilemanager"

Make a new profile, and set it to be default.

Make sure firefox is closed again.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\[Windows Username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

You'll want to find these files in your old profile and move them into your new profile (overwriting the ones there if necessary).

# bookmarks.html - Bookmarks
# cert8.db - Security certificates
# chrome/userChrome.css and chrome/userContent.css (if they exist) - User-defined styles
# cookies.txt - Cookies
# formhistory.dat (Firefox) or (number).w (Mozilla Suite) - Form history
# key3.db and signons.txt (Firefox) - Saved passwords.
# history.dat - Browsing history
# hostperm.1 - Cookie, image, and extension install permissions
# mimeTypes.rdf - Actions to perform on downloaded files

Open up firefox and make sure everything's there as it should be.

Start->Run-> "firefox.exe -profilemanager" again and delete your old profile, leaving only your new profile.

Voila! I know, a little bit of a hassle just to fix this one thing, but it's easier to do it this way with directions and guaranteed results than to try to hunt down the issue.
