Me, Snow, Pittsburgh

Funny look, but you'll have that when you haven't been snowed on in 13 years!
I'm bummed I lost my favorite scarf. Otherwise, good times.

The Recap:

Dawn picked me up at the airport and we went straight to Michael's house. He hasn't changed a bit. Met his boyfriend, who was asleep in bed, and naked. Woot! There was no door on the bathroom, and I had to pee, but what the hell - they're gay. Their cat is the spitting image of Ripley.

We stayed at the roachiest roach motel EVER. I had to call the police at 5 a.m. when some thug decided to knock on our door impersonating a "maintenance man." I was not all together comforted when I saw the real maintenance man who said he would keep an eye on our room for the rest of the night but we survived.

Breakfast at the Rusty Nail. Fadi surprised me by showing up to pay for breakfast. We sat in our old seat by the window, watching the snow, catching up. It was nice.

Took a tour of the Heinz History Museum with Dawn and her mommy. She made us go down the Kidsburgh slide and I only got stuck a couple of times. The Steelers display was pretty neat. I picked up a Heinz ketchup tee-shirt for Siobhan and a coffee mug for myself. Her mom took us to lunch at Crystal's where I had Kibbee on my salad because "her nephew ate all the pepperoni." It was really good!

Checked into the hotel and went straight to the spa for facials and pedicures. It was heavenly after a long night of traveling and not sleeping much and spending most of the day running around in the cold. They gave us some wine and let us keep our robes when it was time to go back up to the room. The room was FANTASTIC.

Thursday night Fadi, Dawn, and I went to Station Square and had some yummy appetizers at a cool bar called "Red Star." Fadi had to go home early. Dawn and I met some folks at the bar and went a few more places. Ended the night by buying at bottle of wine at Tonic and walking back to the room.

I was up at the crack of dawn so I took a nice long hot bath and then I went back to bed and read for a while. We had a fancy lunch with Dawn's brother at the hotel. We had a nap. I asked Dawn if she'd ever seen Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and we laughed until we cried, but you had to be there. Then we went to Macy's and found some new shirts and lipstick. Got ready and met up with her brother, 30 of his friends, his wife, and Fadi and his friend at Roland's for another night of debauchery, Pittsburgh-style.

Saturday was one big clusterfuck after another. Starbucks was the highlight of my day. We had breakfast at Eat 'n Park, but I wasn't even hungry. We said goodbye to Fadi, and Dawn's mom & step dad, then we drove to Ohio. There was talk of maybe going to Detroit to see the car show, but that didn't happen. I crashed at Joanne's house, and we watched chick flicks all night long.

Sunday was bitterly cold. We went to Acme, Swensen's, the drive-thru and then never left the house again. We got stinking drunk. That's what you do when it's 5° outside and there's nothing else to do.

Monday I was wretchedly hungover. We stopped at McDonald's and I actually ate a quarter-pounder with cheese. It tasted So Good. Hung out with Dawn's kiddos for a bit, then made the trek up to CLE airport. By the time I got back to Austin at 11:45, I was ready for my own bed again.
