Well, the Overclocked version of Devil Survivor 1 had an extra day, and as you can tell from playing DS2, that's a heck of alot of plot and added replay value. It also added full voice acting. I don't know what the difference will be for DS2 Overclocked, but I'm pretty curious ya know?
Atlus tends to be pretty good with making updated rereleases worth the coin. Persona 3 Portable let you change the gender of the MC, which pretty much changes ALL the social links, and save a character who died in the original. Persona 3 FES added a playable epilogue with a great deal of meat to it. Persona 4 Golden added two social links, one of them ADACHI, and added several more things to do around town.
I don't know about other companies, but I've come to trust the Atlus rereleases to bring something new to the table.
On another note, first playthough I'm going with the Merit based path, because the leader of the JPs is pretty awesome and it seems without looking up spoilers like it'd be the easiest for a first run. Could be wrong. Day 7, 1400 hours.
