So, it's the middle of August, and everyone in the department is huddled at their desks with hot coffee and wrapped up in blankets, myself included. I actually bear a striking resemblence to Mary, with my head covered, as well. You may be asking yourself why are we all a collective bucket full of crazy by bundling up so during the hottest days of summer. This is because some moron has turned down the temperature to what feels to be around 59 degrees. We have called to everyone we know to try and fix this problem and people are either not answering, or those who do answer cannot help.
Last night was a lot of fun. I met up with my fellow NOVA (Northern Virginia) transplant buddy at Bub O'Malley's for a beer and pre-season football. It was great, as I haven't seen the poor girl in about a week. Afterward, I met up with Jenni and Other Liz at Caribou Coffee, on Franklin Street. It's a default hang out spot. We chatted over coffee, tea, etc, while playing with Other Liz's adorable dog, Maximus. We've also decided that since we've played with babies for about four collective hours over the past two nights that we are the Matrons of Caribou. We could run our own daycare. It's actually been rather nice, as I wasn't exposed to small children growing up. I had no aunts, uncles, or cousins, since my parents are only children. I'm also an only child. It was a very secluded upbringing. The past two evenings have been great, though. I've always been scared of babies, due to aforementioned lack of exposure. I didn't want to hurt them. Or what if everyone is making silly faces and the baby is laughing, and my face is the one that makes them cry? Then I'm the asshole that made the baby cry. These were the things I feared. Now I find it so fun, watching them smile, making them laugh, using my legs as their own personal trampoline, etc. I want children, or a singular child, but I've always worried that I lacked some maternal fiber within me. It was nice to feel that for the first time.
After Caribou, I went home and went to sleep. Now I am here. Tonight is trivia night at Linda's Downstairs. Always a good time. Will probably come in second place. Again. NEVER FIRST.
I want this...
Capucine Eau de Toilette Other than that, life is pretty darned good. After work, during my self-imposed "Nap/Relaxation Time" after work, I'm going to finish watching Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which is one of my new favorite movies. I discovered it about six months ago, when I was searching for some Val Kilmer movies I actually HADN'T seen. Highly recommended if you haven't seen it.
Also, interesting question: What is your age limit on the oldest person you would date?
