I'm gonna go ahead and say that any outrage over a lack of black women/men in fashion shows (especially in the biggies (milan, paris etc)) needs to be stopped. I mean, come on.
Yes, there are very few black women in those shoes.
There are also very few asian women.
Or freckled women.
Or larger women.
These shows are not about equality - they are about looks. I have seen entire shoots done by black women that are stunning. Just as I have seen shoots done by white or asian or what-have-you women that are equally stunning.
This is one area where they are allowed to discriminate because you're black.
Why? Because it IS about the colour of a model's skin. In the most very literal sense.
They aren't saying you don't have an equal standing with any one else intellectually or culturally, you just don't have the right look for their show. So having hang-ups about racially unbalanced fashion shoes is like being bothered that the colours in a painting aren't all used equally - It's what works in each individual peace.
This is spoken by a young white girl, and you correct me if you like.
But I just don't see the logic in outrage over something like this, when more destructive racism is going on elsewhere.
