Closet of raunchy

So the bad news is, I forgot to bring a camera, we kinda rushed out the door. Good news is, that was one of the best shows I have ever seen..

Details:
The show kicked off with INTO THE MOAT:
They opened up with "Dead before I stray"
How do I put this into words?? I was convinced that the drum tracks on their albums was layered, recording the double bass separately. But it sounded exactly the same if not better live. It was so intricate. The drums were tighter than your mom squeezing into toddler pants. I've never seen better drumming. Seriously. The guitar blew my mind. The bass blew my mind. The vocals,... blew my mind. I haven't smiled that big in a long time. Basically the entire crowd was a pit. Fists swinging in the air, human limbs everywhere. I think they did the best. (Or at least a tie with BTBAM)

cephalic carnage:
Dissonant metalcore nonsense. I couldn't help but assume that it was some sort of joke, since it does sound like third-rate metalcore. The solos, were lame punchlines. I was laughing really. Then, when it continued, and I found that it wasn't a joke, it just got annoying. That kind of stuff wears thin on me. In between EVERY song, they would play some crap rap over the PA, and "introduce" their next song. I think 4 times out of 5 they said something to the effect of, "this goes out to all you metal fans1!!!!!!111" The vocals were awkward, with a low growl most of the time, where I had noo clue as to what they were saying, and a kind of pedophile lispy monotone talking voice the other part of the time. Guitars waay distorted and turned up waay too loud, drums too quiet. The only redeemable part of the band was the goofy bassist. His vocals sounded exactly like the cookie monster. When they went into one of their Drop D open string MEtaLcOooreXxX breakdowns, they told us to "pump our fists in the air. Two fists proceeded to pump... Only two completely deaf people in the crowd. Good.

Next up: BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME
I felt the hugest relief when they began setting up. Tommy (Giles) had this insane presence. I felt compelled to hop on stage and hump him. The lead guitar, is just amazing. He was just doing a sound check, and even just on that, me and Matt's jaws were dropping. We were speechless. His fingers moved faster than any guitarist I have ever seen. They opened with "All Bodies," Playing "Alaska" second, which got the largest response. The other guitarist had to sit down the entire set, poor guy. He had a back injury, and had to use a cane. Best part: he used his cane for effects on the guitar. Haha. What a trooper. The percussion is so innovative. Lots of effect cymbals used, lots of jazz rooted fills. They were using this beautiful 7 piece pearl. It sounded great. Someone got hurt in the pit, literally, Tommy (vocals) stopped singing, and made sure the kid was okay. These are some down to earth guys, not to mention musical geniuses. The closed out with "Selkies: the endless obsession," leaving the audience wanting more.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER:
They sounded O.K. (a little like Cephalic), But we headed out, I was completely satisfied, I came only for Into the Moat and BTBAM... I talked to Tommy, he was really really nice. He showed me how to armwrestle and I got a nice long sweaty hug. My night was made.
