Another day, another excuse to die
For every life that begins, another ends
Somewhere there lays still a forgotten face
Somewhere a baby girl for the first time opens her eyes
And here I sit in between closing walls of life
…This is your life, and it’s ending one minute at a time…
She finds difference within this time
Her perfect plans come here to die
The pleasures and pains throughout her life
These foreshadows of future soon come to an end
Smeared from the liner inflicted from her eyes
She wipes away the droplet’s cascade from her face
The blackened floods corroding this face
Tarnish ‘til stained through the course of time
The look of decay locked through two holes in her eyes
The corridor she quests each lantern soon dies
The last step she takes, crossing over dead ends
From death stands a line flowing stricken with life
And thus she asks of what this life
Contains that someday she must face
Her hair she tears to the very splits of her ends
Yet a darker hue re-grown in due time
My porcelain baby girl blows a kiss ‘fore he die
The guilt from his cold heard now beats in her eyes
And tears of blood soon flood his eyes
And pour down his cheeks like, down the drain, does his life
His lungs compress, shrivel and die
And their final breath blows a tainted kiss toward her face
She’d keep absorbing from time to time
Vows of ‘til death do us part’ come to end
She then weeps down the hall, meant to tie up loose ends
Her guilt spills as soil, dried encrust on her eyes
Her new porcelain face she will break into time
Erosion and age enslave the remains of her shattered life
Her blush turn to mildew while rust coats her face
She lay by his side, hopes the mold in her throat will see she die
All future plans die, all at untimely ends
Break open this face, my baby’s scarlet, dead eyes
…This is our life, and it’s ending one minute at a time…
(This is a sestina I wrote a while back, but I figured it was worthy enough to be included. And yes, I used a line from fight club. deal with it.)
