Last week of Denmark

Well, it's been my last week in Denmark; I had finals like any other university student, but fortunately it was easier than last week. I only had two finals: a short reflection paper for Cross-Cultural Psychology and a test for Nordic Mythology. Everything went fine, I think. However, I had some free days, so I went out to take some last minute pictures and see a few sites. I went to Kronborg Castle with Sara Woolery; the castle is the one that Shakespeare is believed to have based Hamlet's caste on. It was a really cool castle with neat rooms, including a dungeon with a Viking statue in it, and a beautiful view of the coast. It was very cold oustide, but I still had a great time seeing the castle. I also bade farewell to the fencing club I have been fencing with this semester; I was sent off with Christmas beer (a popular Danish Christmas tradition) and some fun hang-out time.

On Thursday after my Nordic final, my host family took me to the Tivoli, which had been decorated for Christmas. The Tivoli is the park/gardens in Copenhagen; it is also an amusement park and has a lot of shops and restauraunts. They decorate for Christmas and have Christmas markets. It was so much fun seeing all of the lights and browsing the Christmas market, even though it was very cold. However, my host host family and I warmed up with some hot chocolate and aebelskriver, which are pancake balls that you dip in powedered sugar and jam. They were so good! I took lots of pretty pictures there. It also snowed in my last week here, so I had the "joy" of riding my bike and commuting in the snow. It's quite pretty--it's just that riding in the snow was scary, especially in the dark. Still, all in all, it has been a good last week.

I spent Friday saying good-bye to people and attending the concluding ceremony for DIS. It's kind of weird to be leaving a place pernamently when I'm only halfway through the school year, but I also am going to miss being here in Denmark. It hasn't really hit me yet. I'm sure it will once I'm actually on the plane. I'm spending my last evening with my host family.

Tusind tak for reading this. I will probably post one last wrap-up entry.
